Parfumerie Générale, Pierre Guillaume, best niche since Malle and Lutens?
Question:
I 've been testing Parfumerie Générale lately and I 'm really falling for this line. except for Bois de Copaiba that I love PG scents I like the most are the masculine ones; Querelle, Harmatan Noir, Coze... Parfumerie Générale is being discussed a lot on perfume blogs (see Armascope page*), also appears to be the most exciting and talked about new niche line on french boards basically the creations of Pierre Guillaume are a cross between of the best of Serge Lutens and Frederic Malle, PG will certainly appeal to those who love Lutens but find his scents too orientalized or sweet. I also think Querelle should please guys into Creed scents but want something edgier. they ship to the US and also send free samples but PG scents can be purchased at Luckyscent or ThePerfumeshoppe http://www.aromascope.com/index.php?...merie+generale (Pierre Guillaume interview at bottom of this page) Answer: I agree, this is a brilliant line. Not a mis-step amongst them. Answer: I really like a few of the bottles from this line, I bought Jasmin de Nuit for a friend (girl) of mine, and she LOVES it... I just wished I could have kept it for myself! I really liked two others from this line, but I can't remember which ones... - Rich Answer: Think you might have hit the nail on the head in my case. I like Creed and I immediately bought Querelle after testing. I will probably sample other PG stuff. Querelle caught my attention due to it's notes as listed on Luckyscent. PS - Querelle not yet in BN directory...I did submit a request for missing fragrance. Cheers... Answer: The only one that has agreed with me yet is Bois Blond. They all seem to be fleeting with my skin chemistry, and the drydown for most of them is never as good as the notes sound. I wanted to love a few of them, but to this point Bois Blond is it. Based on the notes most sound like I would love them and that is what is confusing about this line to me. Answer: I went to the Perfumeshoppe and the owner starting spraying a lot of their different perfumes on cards to sniff. I wasn't impressed at first and then I placed the cards down to give them an opportunity to dry down. I then placed my nose into a cup of coffee beans to tone things down a little. I went back to the cards and I thought they were okay...nothing outstanding...wasn't impressed by the line. The only one I sorta liked was there gourmand one...forgot the name… thought I've smelt better gourmands. Also, I'm not a huge fan for either FM or Serge Lutens...so maybe that's why I don't like them. I tested the Bois Blond, L'Ombre Fauve, and Cedre Sandaraque (this last one is probably the gourmand you were referring to). The Bois Blond, to my nose, yeilded notes of cedarwood, sweet tobacco, amber, and a floral accord resembling honeysuckle. The Cedre Sandaraque was sweeter, cedarwood with a caramel accord and a touch of vetiver. I really liked both, but after a few hours, the Bois Blond seemed to disappear from my wrist. As time went on, I became less interested in the Cedre Sandaraque, although I still enjoyed it. The L'Ombre Fauve was a different experience. At first, I was somewhat indifferent. Maybe I was a bit distracted by the other fragrances, but, as time went on, I became more and more interested. The fragrance definitely evolved over time for me, getting better and better on the drydown. After a few hours, I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist. I really enjoyed the interplay of the amber, wood, musk, and patchouli notes in this one. Definitely try this one on your skin, and give it some time. I will have to try the others again to give them a fair shot. Answer: Originally Posted by Mikey Q Think you might have hit the nail on the head in my case. I wore it in bed last night, just a little dab of it, the drydown is to die for, unfortunately the opening is impossible for girls, it 's too masculine, if I bought it I wouldn 't be able to wear it. My boyfriend doesn 't wear anything I buy him. -------------------------------------- Originally Posted by _R$_ I really like a few of the bottles from this line, I bought Jasmin de Nuit for a friend (girl) of mine, and she LOVES it... Answer: Thank you, Jasmin de Grasse, for posting about Parfumerie Générale : I had totally forgotten this brand even existed, and you made me want to look into it. So I checked out their website and answered their questionnaire : within a matter of hours only I received a very courteous and articulated reply, obviously written by someone who knows their job, and who recommended... Querelle and Harmatan Noir. I am now dying to smell them ! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
