new Zegna Intenso
Question:
I always see this brand for sale at Sephora and all the other stores that originated on 5th Avenue, but I rarely see it discussed. Zegna? Thoughts? the new Zegna Intenso from Ermenegildo Zegna http://www.osmoz.com/encyclo/marques...UM&LANGUE= en -------------------------------------- I see that the shaking of your cologne thread is doing 1000 times more activity than this. Answer: When I tried it I liked it, but it was at the end of a very long day of cologne smelling, so it didn't really stick out to me. - Rich Answer: This looks interesting.....I'm not a big fan of the 1st two releases.....I don't hate them....they're not bad scents....nothing special......Gary Answer: Zenga scents epitomize everything that is wrong with modern day, "appeal to the masses" mall scents. Wanna smell like everyone else? Great; go for it. Buy one of the unspeakable Boss frags while you're at it. On the other hand...be special. Buy a UNIQUE scent and stand out. Answer: I really like Boss Selection... Is there something wrong with it? It's a synthetic sweet, but it never claimed to be anything else. It smells quite good, and it does get the compliments. - Rich Answer: Originally Posted by Rebelwithoutaclue Zenga scents epitomize everything that is wrong with modern day, "appeal to the masses" mall scents. This what I was getting at. It seems to be a staple not of the mall stores such as Macy's or Sears but of the more upscale stores such as Saks, Nieman, Bloomingdales and Sephora. I see it constantly and no one here wears it. Answer: Originally Posted by _R$_ I really like Boss Selection... Is there something wrong with it? Personally I save my money for what I perceive as more unique scents, but that's the beauty part of this hobby. I can't imagine a more subjective subject than scent, and no one's right or wrong in their opinions, obviously including me. I take great pains, when I'm describing or rating scent, to say "IMO," as to not offend anyone who disagrees with me, even though it goes without saying that when you're rating a fragrance, it's YOUR OPINION ONLY and certainly not the "final word" on a scent's merits. That's one of the reasons I strenuously object to people who WANT and NEED to have their opinion accepted as "gospel." The unmissed Serpent was famous for this type of attitude, particularly in his slamming of Terre de Hermes, which won best new scent in the B'notes poll. I LOATHE people who consider others "wrong" if you have the audacity to disagree with their opinions. I'll give you a good example. I own over 300 scents and many of them are the "holy grails" of the discontinued....Havana, Jean Deprez's Versailles PH, Patou PH, Monsieur Carven, Ungaro I & II, MPG's Soir de Orient, New West, original Derby, orignal Santos (80s edition), Stardust, the absolutely unobtainable Aramis Portos, Bogner's Deep Forest, Relax by Davidoff, original Balfrae by Lancome and several others...as well as some of the ridiculously expensive niche/artisinal fragrances...yet one of my favorite scents of all time is the dime-store, widely ridiculed "PS Fine Cologne" by Paul Sebastian. (BTW, I believe that, excepting Uncle Griff, whom I bought the bottle from, I am the ONLY B'notes member who owns a bottle of Aramis Portos. If I'm wrong, PM me..I'd love to discuss this scent with you! While the others I have mentioned CAN be purchased...albiet at a dear price...this one has COMPLETELY disappeared, which is a shame, as it is a great fragrance). "Taste" in fragrances is simply undebatable, though of course that doesn't stop us. One man's treasure is another man's garbage, and that's exactly as it should be. Answer: I have this scent, and it smells alot like boss selection. But still I don't think smelling generally good to the general public is so bad. I think it smells like cream soda, and licorice(strawberry). THis is what makes it unique to me. Its because when I smell all my other scents, they are either too complex that I need a strongly analyses of it to smell all the notes or in the other cases they smell like something else. If I smell cream soda, I'm smelling Zegna Intenso. Sometime simplicity is good and I don't need to smell like someone complex to distinguish myself from someone else because thats what personality is for(not saying this is the case for everyone). From what I have seen zegna is not heavily advertising this in the media. If I smell this and I like this because I think it adds to my collection I will buy it. I think this is what destinguishes it from the aqua di gio, boss in motion, or eternity. I am buying it because I like it and not because of advertising.
