Was Daim Blond inspired by Mitsouko?
Question:
I've recently been sampling Mitsouko, which I love, and the peach note reminds me so much of Daim Blond's apricot. It dawned on me, is Daim Blond Mr. Lutens' take on the Guerlain classic? DB is, of course, much brighter. Any thoughts? Answer: the only perfume that was inspired by Mitsouko is Rose Barbare, from a structure point of view. http://chandlerburr.com/newsite/cont...meprevious.php but perceptions of certain notes can remind us of other perfumes of course, personally I get more apricot than peach note in Daim Blond. Answer: thanks a lot, guys, now I have to try Rose Barbare....will it never end???????? Answer: Today I am wearing Daim Blond, (thnx, R) and this thread is making me think about its similarities to Mitsouko. I find DB much more wearable than Mitzi, who, for me, is like a temperamental siren. I reach for her stopper with a little catch of the breath, never sure if she will behave on me or not. When she does, she smolders delightfully. Daim Blond has a calmer presence it seems to me. Today I added a spritz of Coco to my Daim Blond and the result is very full bodied and rich. Actually , if I think of it, Coco and Daim Blond reminds me somewhat of Mitsouko, but with a more modern feel. It must be the sweet note in Coco that is reminiscent of the peach in Mitzi. If anyone tries this layering concoction, my cautionary note is EASY on the Coco, lest she overwhelm the steady Daim Blond. All you need is a drop or two. Answer: It's that peach/apricot/orange note that you love. I love it in all three: Mitsouko, Coco, and Daim Blonde. Both Mitsouko and Daim Blonde have a "bitter" note with the fruit--in one it is oud, in the other it is leather. Coco, however, is sweet all the way through, with clove providing the counterpoint to the fruit. Spiced peaches, in canning jars, with whole cloves stuck in them. Answer: I still don 't see any similarities ...to me Daim Blond is very ladylike etheral elegant leather, it 's Audrey Hepburn but if alive and young in 2007, Mitsouko is more organic and earthier Answer: Originally Posted by purplebird7 It's that peach/apricot/orange note that you love. This is so well put, and very clarifying to me. Yes, I see these notes that you are describing. Jasmin, I can also see what you say about Daim Blond and Mitsouko... ironically. But there is definite overlap and connection between these scents. I think that Purple Bird hit the "note" on the head. As I read this, I ponder the wonder of Mitsouko. It has been discussed at such great length and yet there always seems to be more to say about it. Interesting thread. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
