If colours were perfumes or vice versa what would they be?
Question:
I'm trying to learn how to distinguish notes in perfumes and this seems to be a good way to start. To my virgin nose for example; Cool water smells blue...could be the assosiation with the packaging but I don't think so on a concious level anyway. DKNY smells green. Mont blanc presence d'une femme smells like a butterscotch/deep ivory colour. You get my drift. Answer: OOHH....fun game!!!!! You're spot on with yours. Lets see.... Thierry Mugler Angel......deep, warm, velvetly blue, bottle notwithstanding.. Vera Wang Princess......cotton candy pink CK Euphoria......colors of fall leaves CK Euphoria Blossom.....peony petal pink Vivenne Westwood Boudoir.....tawny peachy sexy underwear color (Feel free to laugh at that one. Can't translate what's in my head very well!) TBS Satsuma....orange. Now that one's pretty much a duh. CK Obession.....velvet brown Cartier So Pretty......rose red next to a pale pink Off the top of my head for the moment. I think that this explains the coloring of so many perfumes...or have I hit on something that everyone else on here already knows and is laughing at me?? ;-) Answer: Originally Posted by bellarosa OOHH....fun game!!!!! ....I think that this explains the coloring of so many perfumes...or have I hit on something that everyone else on here already knows and is laughing at me?? ;-) Welcomewelcome DaisyCom and BellaRosa!! I know I for one am not laughing at you and this is a fun thread. Have you noticed how often - on SotD for example - we will print the name of the frag in a color?? Green for greenies, rose for roses, dark brown for Orientals and so forth? There's whole sense theories built around complementarity of sight (and sound) and smell. Since (I think) we're all here to share experience, strength and hope - this is a great basis for discussion. Thanks to you both. Answer: This IS a fun thread. But here are some tougher ones... What colour would you associate with: Black Cashmere Narciso Rodrigues for her Chinatown Cuir de Russie Joy Champs Elysees Answer: Havana for Men = Brilliant Orange Dior pour Homme = Azure Blue John Varvatos = Payne's Grey Tabac Blond = Burnt Sienna Mitsouko = Vermillion Jicky = Royal Purple Answer: Originally Posted by dimples This IS a fun thread. Narciso Rodriguez for her - dusky, deep pale pink Chinatown - rich, royal purple Cuir de Russie - my friend's mother used to wear this and it's definitely smooth, elegant beige (not boring beige, elegant beige!) Joy - raspberry red, maybe because I always think that I smell raspberry in it! Champs Elysees - deep dark yellow, similar to the box of Dolce Vita. My mum wore CE in the 80s and it was a really happy scent, and I immediately think yellow. Answer: I don't know if I have a clever answer to this, but basically here goes: Most of the (fruity-musky-girly) fragrances out now, to me are very PINK (Incensey) scents to me would be "MYSTIC" color (Light flowery) -YELLOW, (spicy)- RED, (grassy, herbal)-GREEN (aquatic)-BLUE, (citrusy)- ORANGE, (powdery)-WHITE It's the best I can do, can't name specific fragrances for all of them. Except the obvious: Red by Giorgio, definitely smells it. Eau des Merveilles- orange Pink Sugar- Duh!!! Fendi-gold GAME OVER...THAT'S ALL FOLKS... Answer: Some of mine: Bandit - deep green (perhaps the leather seats on a British Racing Green vintage sports car). Miel de Bois - a light tawny, the colour of set honey. Ambre Sultan - A creamy mid-brown with yellow undertones. Alien - lemon yellow Mitsouko - russet, the colour of autumn leaves. Chypre Rouge - olive green. Ivoire - white (yes, the name suggests white but I also get a sense of white flowers from this). Angel - royal purple. Answer: Black Cashmere - fluffy black seen through foggy haze of dark grey Champs-Elysées - blinding white with flashes of yellow and gold Angel - golden brown, like honey or caramel Alien - dark velvety green with light brown color of fresh wood Oh! de Moschino - dusty creamy white with an almost unnoticeable green tint Bvlgari Black - dark, asphalty brown, like old motor oil Fracas - white, peach and rich orange-red, swirling into one another Anais Anais - light grey with dark peachy splotches Hypnotic Poison - very dark grey, almost black, with streaks of vanilla yellow Eau Torride by Givenchy - cloudy greenish yellow with a residue at the bottom brown as crispy autumn leaves and my beloved Lanvin Arpege - no color yet, I only see the golden brown color of the liquid... anybody has a color associated with Arpege? Answer: I find this thread very interesting - mainly because, try as I might, I just can't do it!! When I try to associate a colour with a scent I just get the colour of the packaging or of the perfume itself, and somehow the colours they use always seem to be appropriate to me. I can't imagine Alien as anything but purple and to me JPG Classique smells just like that unusual shade of pink it comes in. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
