Question:
I've been looking for a cologne that is similar to the Brut Deodorant(the cylindrical shaped deodorant only, not deodorant/antiperspirant).
I tried the obvious cologne, Brut cologne that is sold in drugstores for under $10 for a splash bottle, but its just not the same thing. I really love the fresh smell of the deodorant and am trying to find something similar in a cologne.

I've actually given the Rive Gauche a shot, not sure why, but it just wasn't for me. My gf liked it, but I couldn't get through the day with it on me for some reason...

To be honest, I'm interested in seeing the responses to this question. I remember wearing brut cologne in high school, and loving the scent. I am having a bit of trouble remembering exactly what it smells like though.

In addition to the above mentioned Rive Gauche, not exactly the same smell, but along the same lines try Paco Rabanne PH

Have you tried Brut Cologne in the spray bottle?
Or Brut EDT spray?
Both are pretty good and are a lot longer lasting than the cheap splash.
Fred Hayman's Touch is also very similar to Brut EDT, but lasts even longer.

First off love the bottle! A clear rectangle bottle like Romance For Men with black T cap top. The front of the bottle has raised red like wax seal with the mark of the House of Fred Hayman. The jus is a deep amber color. Just show how simple a bottle can look yet be sophisticated.
The scent is very unique, I think I would classify it as fourgere/oriental ? I don't know!
It open up with heady Lavender/Orange Flower notes almost smells like Brut opening notes.
Then kicks in the steady heavy amber notes like pancake syrup.
Right now it smells like Root Beer on me. I think the idea on this scent was to go for a classic type scent as in the same frame as Pour Un Homme from Caron? Is the drydown so thick/sweet as he said?

To many people, Pinaud Clubman smells like Brut (or Brut smells like Clubman is probably the right direction to go.) I don't remember the difference between the Brut deo vs. the splash, so I apologize if my suggestion is off-base...I just didn't want to thread to go by without at least a shout out for good ol' Pinaud.

The answer is yes it is thick - but it still more like Brut to me than anything else. It's going quite cheap down here - I got some bottles recently for A$5 for 50ml bottles.
