Reminder re: posting pics
Question:
Sorry but had to edit some posts today and remove the pics in them. Here's a reminder why: /showthread.php?t=185546 Answer: So is it ok to post a picture that you own (ie. of yourself), and if so, how does one do that? I notice there is a thread in the Off Topic that has members' pictures and I can't see most of them, but am very curious as to what all you lovelies look like! Answer: ^ i believe the specific offence in question is hotlinking, and not copyright violation. you can post pics as long as they are hosted by you - meaning you personally are storing the pic on some server that you have permission to use (there are a number of free ones out there). This is opposed to, say, seeing a pic on MSNBC, and copy-pasting their pic url into BN to make it show up. When you hotlink, you are leaching bandwidth which is impolite and makes webmasters angry. to post a pic, store the pic on a host, then just do this: [ img ] http://blablahblah.com/yadda/yourpic.jpg [ /img ] with no spaces. i have no idea why you can't see other ppl's pics. you should be able to. Answer: For my part I try to only post images that were made by the cosmetic company, usually packshots or ads. Those are official and are part of press maps send to beauty reporters all over the world. Packshots can be tricky, as for example WWD.com makes their own packshots. Those images will then feature the name of the photographer which means there is a copyright... so that's a no no. I host my pictures on Makeupalley.com, which is free when you register. Answer: my apologies. I did hotlink a photo in a thread. I'll look for it and remove it, if it hasn't already been done. Answer: Hi, I'm new and was disturbed by new post by archive 111. It's a sales ad for some company. Is that allowed? Thanks Answer: For the life of me no idea how people get pics on and how you get them off, you must be very talented!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????
