Something similar to Bois de Portugal?
Question:
Hey all I have a small decant of BdP, absolutely LOVE it, and I want to get a bottle. However I don't think I'm ready to drop Creed money on it. Is there any cheaper scents(niche or designer) that resemble the dry woods and quality of this scent? Answer: Originally Posted by ironmics Are there any cheaper scents (niche or designer) that resemble the dry woods and quality of this scent? NO! If there was one, everybody else would be mad buying the Creed .... Some once compared CK's Obsession for men with BdP. That made me laugh and cry at the same time .... Answer: Yikes, I can't think of anything. I'd recommend just buying a 1/2 oz decant of it, which should last you quite a long time. It's strong and lasts, so you don't need to apply much. Regards, # Answer: I don't think this will save you much money, but there are parts of Parfums de Nicolaļ's New York that remind me of Bois du Portugal. BdP is such an wonderful, elemental, and perfect scent that it always reminds me of something...something. Something that's been a part of life or childhood. Damn, there is just something out there that does smell like it, but since you're happy with BdP already you might just save until you can get yourself a big bottle. Best, --Chris Answer: Yes! *I second Nicolai's New York. It's less dry and sharp. *It's not really the same, scent, but it's the same KIND of scent, if that makes sense. Answer: I found that Carven Homme is a lot like Bois du Portugal, and while CH is a little spicier (nutmeg or cinnamon), my experience is that the main things that stand out are lots of wood, creaminess and vanilla (plus the spice), also supposedly tobacco and juniper. *I believe some guys also noticed the amber in it. *It's inexpensive and has gotten several positive reviews here...I say give it a shot! *Also, I find CH is less rigid, more relaxed (less formal) in some respects than BdP. Oh--I forgot to mention--Carven Homme is also a little bit sweeter than Bois Du Portugal. Answer: I own a bottle of Carven pour Homme and a decant of PdN - New York. They are no way near Bois du Portugal IMO. Carven is rich O.K. and New York is very very fine I agree, but they smell completely different. Edit: Ooops, New York is indeed closer to Bois du Portugal than I have thought. Answer: I think Fendi Oumo is a bit similar in the opening with the supersharp overpowering woods. But while Fendi stays onedimensional and makes the sinuses clog up BdP dries down more interesting and complex. They are similar at first but thats about it. I would also go with the BdP though I“m not that fond of it even though I like woody scents. INteresting for sure but hard to find a suitable occation to wear. / Tobbe Answer: no. BdP seems to be unique. i advise yout o save your money, you will not regret it! m (who will buy NS this week....)
