Fragrances ruined by those deemed unworthy? - Page 2
Question:
I don't think anyone is unworthy of a fragrance but I certainly know the feeling of not wanting to smell a certain scent anymore because it was on the wrong person. I had a colleague who wore Egyptian Musk Superior and she over-did it - she also put it on a married co-worker she was having an affair with. It was nauseating. I used to like EM Superior. I think I'll have to wait for a few years until I can smell it again and not think of feeling uncomfortable at work. Answer: Apologies if anyone was offended by the term "unworthy", it was of course tongue-in-cheek. No one is more worthy than anyone else. So there might be a downside to finding my HG signature scent after all...people might think it was "unrelenting" ! Thanks Donna for giving me another reason to shun consistency and buy everything I love...LOL As for having a scent ruined by someone, I guess original Amarige (which I'm not wild about anyway) was utterly spoiled when it was worn by a very loud temporary coworker who proceeded to pronounce the name as "A Marriage" for the entire evening. She also wore a ton of it and reapplied every hour or so. I attributed my headache to the scent but later I figured out it was the person...I've smelled Amarige on others and have not needed to take Ibuprofen . I still give it a pass. (Anyone who doesn't know what a chav is, Google is your friend!) When Angel first came out (when it was moderately hard to find still) I fell in love with it. I ended up buying a lot of the other product - body cream, hair perfume, shower gel. But then one of my friends decided she liked it and started doing the same. Although I really liked my friend, I hated the idea of being copied, so I stopped wearing it for ages. I still have the same bottle of EDP in the cupboard and I do wear it occassionally now, though it's turned somewhat greyish... I'm really not keen on wearing anything mass market any more though. I couldn't agree with you more, I hate to wear what everyone else wears, it kind of turns me off to the scent, but most of the time, a scent that might be popular, smells completely different on me, so nobody usually recognizes it, and if they do, I still smell terrific! When my best friend & I were in our teens & early twenties (many moons ago) she would basically copy EVERYTHING I wore. From shoes, earrings, makeup, clothes, pocketbooks, especially perfumes. She would come in my room & spray something on, and say, "I want that", and go out & immediately buy it. Drove me nuts, but what would REALLY bother me was, people would come over to me & say, "Oh, your wearing the same perfume as Sheila!" Never got the credit for being the originator, it drove me nuts, but I loved her, and we were young, so I let it go, but now, I would put an immediate halt to it... Answer: Not by THOSE deemed unworthy but by experiences with those deemed unworthy. So Pretty by Cartier. Bought for me by a abusive boyfriend. Lovely scent, ten years later it still makes me want to throw up. Other than that, nope. My fragrance is mine, and I just hope it smells better on me and go on with it.
