Apologies for starting another Terre D'hermes thread
Question:
but i just had to start afresh...i wanted attention here...I was just going through the bylanes in CBD in Melbourne this afternoon when i came across this shop in one corner....A vintage bottle of Van cleef & Arpels ph got me moving inside...thats a diff story but i want to focus on Terre D'Hermes....i have been looking to try this for sooo long....its been so widely discussed here i had this keen desire to try it.... The SA was about to spray it on a card and i stopped her and told her i need to try it on my skin....one spray on the back of my palm.....honestly speaking i dont really remember how the top notes were but i would say after about 15 minutes or so i started getting whiffs of it here and there...and then i just couldnt stop myself from smelling my hand.... The only way i can describe it is with the exact words that came to my mind.... 'This smells like fresh cool breeze. It smells like an ocean. It smells like weed. Like minerals. It has a cooling effect. Jesus...is this a fragrance? How can you seal this smell in a bottle? I have not smelt anything like this before. NEVER. This is unique. I LOVE IT' I was on the train back home after bout 3 hours and man i could smell this stuff even with my hand placed on my thigh while i sat through the journey to home. This stuff has incredible sillage. I cannot think of another perfume that lets out a greater sillage. This stuff rocks. Its almost 12 hours since i applied that single spray...i have done my dishes, washed my hands and i can still smell it....albeit not as distinctly as i could earlier..but if i sniff my hand its there...and its fantastic.... I have to have this...I have been waiting to buy this without testing for a while now but i cant wait no more...This has to be in my wardrobe... Thanks to everyone who wrote about this favourably coz it sure did prick me into longing for this one....I am excited as you all can see....this excitement could fade in the coming days...i may be over reacting to my exposure to Terre D'Hermes but this is what i feel about it as of NOW....right at this moment.... My recommendation...EVERYONE on this board MUST MUST try Terre D'Hermes...I am absolutely sure that there would be more lovers for this than haters.... Gupts Answer: Yep!! I am indeed a lover of this phenomenal scent!!! Answer: I wore it this weekend for the first time in 4 months. I fell in love all over again. Classy, timeless, with good longevity and sillage. A top 5 for me. It will get alot of use over the next 6 months just like last year. Answer: Originally Posted by gupts 'This smells like fresh cool breeze. It smells like an ocean. I've read descriptions such as "Bitter orange mixed with a light ethereal wood note" and "Smells like dirt", which both seem to describe a frag. totally different to that quoted above. Those who know the smell of marijuana will find that the drydown is very similar - not something I would wear to formal events, for the fear of being labelled a pothead. (just joking). Definitely a try before you buy. Answer: Gupts, My friend, I'll have to agree with you on that one. I love it, and even enjoy the attractiveness of the bottle. To me, it succeeds admirably at what it attempts, a lovely fresh top and an earthy bottom. I got to try it in good circumstances; I was on my Boston trip and tried it in Nieman's. I'll have to say that their price was up there, but really not too out of line. Still, I didn't buy it right then; SoCalWoman kindly hooked me up. Because it's you, I'm cool with another Terre D'Hermes post. But put up your umbrella for the massive whining that will surely ensue! Now that you're done, I'm going to try to construct something that will filter out Terre D'Hermes posts! Answer: Terre d'Hermes lovers of the world...unite & take over! Yeah, I liked Jean Claude Ellena (the creater of TdH) long before this scent exploded all over the scent world last year (Un Jardin sur le nil; all of the Hermessences; Colonia Assoluta; Rose Poivree - are ALL in my wardrobe). TdH's success confirms Mr. Ellena's genius. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Terre d'Hermes was the best scent released in 2006, in my opinion. Answer: I love a good post of joy like this thread starter. We don't get to read enough of them. Great story, Gupts. Answer: After trying it, don't you just wonder how in the hell some people on this board claim that it doesn't have any lasting power? (they must have defective noses! J/K ) As far as the marijuana similarity...I can see why the comparison is made, however, I don't think it is similar enough to be mistaken for weed. I've smoked enough to have a good handle on the scent...and even if I were to clambake in a car, while smoking a joint, the smell wouldn't last half as long as two shots of Terre d' Hermes! The Hermes is a cleaner, plant-like smell...pot smells more rotted, skunky and distinct. I'd gladly wear TdH to any formal event (in fact, I'd prefer to). Answer: Another huge fan here! I don't wear frags to get compliments, but EVERY time I wear this I'm a compliment magnet! And yeah, it has great longevity on me. Answer: My girlfriend loves this on me. I find it unique but it is definitely not my favorite. I do wear it when I see her. It is the most "earthy" frag I have ever smelled and it does have a marijuana similarity. I only know this because everyone else was smoking it at all the rock concerts I went to. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
