Hi everyone! I've been lurking around the board for awhile and figured it's time to make my first post. Anyway, here's my question:
I've recently fallen in love with Ormonde Jayne's Frangipani Absolute. My decant is almost empty so I think it's coming up on time to splurge and buy a full bottle. Before I do, I was wondering if anyone has tried any comparable scents that they would recommend. What about Chantecaille Frangipane or Ava Luxe Frangipani? They would be more affordable options for sure. Or should I just go with what I know and love (which I likely will)?

Welcome to Basenotes Wavering! I can't comment on any of the fragrances you mention, as I haven't tried them. I suggest you try to get hold of some samples or test them out in a store. If not, why not go with the one you already love?

Hi Wavering, welcome to Basenotes! Frangipani is in Annick Goutal's Songes and also Versace Woman. It is not one of my favourite notes but I think Chantecaille Frangipani is a lighter scent than Songes which I have a bottle of. Can't remember noticing frangipani at all in Versace Woman which seemed to be more of an all round floral scent. I think some of the Comptoir Sud Pacifique scents may have frangipani but I don't know them well enough to be of any specific help there.

Haven't experienced either the Jayne or Chantecaille but the Ava Luxe is so gorgeous and samples are such a steal that if I were you I'd sure give it a try.

I have night blooming jasmine, Hawaiian pua kini'kini and the wonderful smelling frangipani growing outside my windows. Amazing aromas drift in through my open windows from time to time when the breeze is just right and the flowers are in full blossom. Any perfume that captures scents like these is OK with me. I will have to sniff samples of those fragrances you all have listed

Thanks for the suggestions and the warm welcomes! I just put in my order for some Ava Luxe samples, including Frangipani. What a great sample program! I think I just may track down some samples of Songes and Chantecaille Frangipane as well, just because I'm curious.

I really love Songes, if that's any help. Don't be tempted by Hei Poa's Frangipani perfume - I bought it unsniffed when I last bought some of their excellent monoi oil, and it's not the real thing (or anything close).
