The scent of a mid summers night?
Question:
Hi, for some strange reasons I currently often ask myself which fragrance has the quintescential scent of a summer night. If I say summer night I mean these wonderfull and poetic nights around mid summers night when the air is warm (about 20-25 C) and nobody wants to go to bed but to sit in a cafe or in a garden just to enjoy. These magical long nights that allways remind me on the nocturnal scenes in "Les Amantes" by Louie Malle. In your book, what frag is linked to these nights ? For me its nerolis like L Occitane Neroli EdP or L Etiquette Bleue and the linden beauty Tilleul by D Orsay. As this seems to be the first "summer nights frag" thread (couldnt find any) I am very courious for your posts. Christian Answer: Two that come to mind are Carnal Flower and Dilmun. Answer: Sweet citrus. Hermes Eau de Orange Verte for example. Answer: I'm with you on Etiquette bleue and other nerolis. That's what mediterranean towns smell of at night, when the orange trees lining their streets release their magic odor. Answer: I think of anything with honeysuckle, like SMN honeysuckle, which is often in the air. And I think to wear musc ravageur on such a night is sublime. Answer: Well...I really like the musky quality of Yankee's Midsummer's Night scented candle. Awhile back, I posed a question about this scent on basenotes. Whenever I smelled Midsummer's Night, it reminded me of my friend Josh. I asked the wise people here if there was a cologne that smelled similar to the candle. The overwhelming answer was Drakkar Noir. Sooooo...perhaps the scent of a mid summer's night = Drakkar Noir? Answer: For me, it would be Claiborne Sport. I personally believe that it would have sold better had it not been marketed as a Sport scent. It's mellow and relaxing like a summer night at the beach. Answer: Fahrenheit Answer: This question has made me reconsider my collection. Perhaps I don't have a fragrance perfectly suited to a summer's night.... Escada Magnetism is the closest I have, warm but mysterious... Answer: depends on where I am: here linden trees and hay (Tillieul, Chergui) Andalucia, Morocco: jasmine flower (Montale, Lutens).
