Most Exciting "Mainstream" Men's Scents - Page 3
Question:
One scent I'd value creative research into is Lancome's Miracle Homme. I can't quite get a handle on it, and I'd value a real nose's investigations into it very much.
It starts out as a very mainstream scent after the gourmand era, with some coffee quality, but it's light and sort of bland too, maybe a hint of forest lakeside water in the aquatic tradition, and maybe a hint of some florals too, I can't figure it out, really.
But then the stuff changes and I think it dries down to some dirty ambergris, or maybe it's amber tempered with the coffee. I really can't figure it out, and worst of all, I can't figure out if I like it or want to keep giving it chances.
Thanks, and great idea for a thread.

Ayala, it's interesting you're looking at men's scents for research purpose... Maybe it would be even more interesting if you would be so kind to share with us baby boys here your impressions on some juices...

Answer:
Nevermind wrong scent. Thought it was London I tried, but it was Brit. That was reason for Edit.
Brit is relatively new anyway, great, and too my wardrobe original.
I have to go and try Burberry London for Men.

Answer:
Went on a little sample-hunting for men's fragrances today, and the results were very poor! They carry hardly any samples... And the ones they do are for one application only in those little packets.
Anyways, I got a good start, one sample of Boucheron pour Homme, a few of those packets, and I also made my own samples of two or three scents that I knew I would like to wear several times...
The bad news is that a lot of scents that I wanted to try were not there, like Live Jazz, and Egoiste (it's been years since I last seen the non-platinum one, shame!), Givenchy's Gentleman or Insense. But thanks to you dear Basenoters, I have a really good list to start with and start working my way through the men's fragrance dome. It's gonna be fun!
I am particularly excited about Xeryus. I was really impressed with the original (black) one, and will have to try to make my own sample next time They don't carry samples of the old stuff in most stores.

... Never too certain about classifications I would call this selection a high end wardrobe: lucky man who owns only half of these! No judgement on Versace here (based on The Dreamer I never gave any of them a chance), but what makes you call Eau Noir and Bois d'Argent 'mainstream' my friend? I do not dare to enter the Dior Boutique w'out 'suit and tie ' well, almost! And Hermès' Bel Ami, plus a few more, are rather elitist taste, I find.

Answer:
Hey I was wondering if anything came from this quest. Did you find anything interesting? Did it inspire you to make any new fragrances? What did you like or dislike? What was your overall impression of your experience with designer men's fragrances?

Answer:
Versace The Dreamer
Paco Rabane Black XS
Dior Homme
Dior Fahrenheit
YSL Rive Gauche
YSL M7
Bvlgari Black
Terre D'Hermes

Answer:
I'll back Jaipur Homme too, but it's best in the EdP strength.
