Any civet fans out there? - Page 2
Question:
I have come to like it as well. It adds a warm, smooth, rich note that nothng else seems to bring. Romeo Gigli per Uomo is one of my favorites. Others where I have noticed the note stand out are: H.O.T. Always, MKK, Gendarme V, Givenchy Gentleman, Rose Poivree.

Answer:
Let's not forget the great use of civet in Obsession and Obsession for Men.
(Although the Basenotes pyramids don't have it labled.)

Answer:
Love civet, it's one of my favourite notes!
To name some names: Balahé, Bandit, Jicky, Jolie Madame, Muscs Koublaï Khan, Mystère, Narcisse Noir, Obsession, Shalimar, Y...

Unlike in many other fragrances, in Obsession civet is notiable only in the late hours of drydown. It doesn`t stand that much out, but is absolutely beautifully blended with sweet notes at the bottom.
What about Musc Ravageur? The pyramid doesn`t say it has any civet in it, but I could swear it certainly does hold quite a bit. And just for the record, this scent isn`t one of my favourites at all. Well made for sure, but the sour powderiness of this fragrance makes me sick.

Answer:
Yes!! One of my most favourite notes (together with castoreum)
Ambregris (Sylvie Jessua): Ambre et Diamant Noir
Amouage: Gold (men and women's version)
Balenciaga: Le Dix
Caron: Tabac Blond and Fleurs de Rocaille
Cartier: the 'old' Panthere and Must
Chanel 5
Desprez: Bal a Versailles
Patou: Joy
Patricia de Nicolai: Sacrebleu
Not a complete list. I just picked the scents I like myself
Please, take a look at www.profumo.it under 'special scents'. They sell pure civet scent.

I can't detect 'sour' in it, otherwise I can second every word you said. The thought of feeling sick came up too, so that renders it very unsafe for me, particularly in company. From originally masculine (100%) I now consider MR 70% feminine. It took a few full wearings to get to that. It is still wonderful, as long as I can bear it.
I also thought to detect something ominous in Tabac Blond, Civet may well be part of the secret, and in that case I would suspect Mme Rochas also has some (?), definitely Miss Dior does (according to Turin who does not attribute civet but castoreum to Tabac Blond as i just found out).

Answer:
Don't forget Rose Poivrée by The Different Company!

Answer:
I really like both Jicky and Mouchoir de Monsieur, but I don't know Ungaro II, though Costello obviously approves; it's number one on his list! Where can you find it? I don't see it at the usual outlets here...

It`s amazing. Easily one of the richest scents I`ve ever experienced. Depth of this fragrance seems to be endless. Perfect blend of citrus, oriental, floral (lavender) and animal notes.
I got my 100ml EdT bottle from Perfume Emporium, but the EdT isn`t there anymore available. (after shave only)

Hi JamieB,

Perfect blend of citrus, oriental, floral (lavender) and animal notes. I concur! A true masterpiece. It has qualities in abundance: It´s sensual, deep and (ok, let´say) elegant. Jicky has that (as Luca Turin ponited out : http://www.nzzfolio.ch/www/d80bd71b-...df8b40dab.aspx ) peacefull, silent aura while Ungaro II is darker, with more depth. Maybe because of the floral notes. I love both and it looks like you should definitely try it. In case you want a decant send me a PM.
It´s discontinued but once in a while it can be found on eBay at reasonable prices. It seems that some eBay stores sell the rest of it´s stock. Definitely easier to get as Ungaro I.
All the best,
Christian
