Question:
Just smelled Penhaligon's English Fern for the first time yesterday and fell in love with it instantly.
Wondering what recommendations you might make for a lover of English Fern.

To me, Miracle Homme L'Acquatonic by Lancome is a modernized version of those classic English Fougeres. Not quite as luverly perhaps, but very very good, and dirt cheap.
All of the classic English houses have a fern scent, so you would also like Crown Fougère (discontinued) or Wild Fern by Trumper.

If you love English Fern you will probably like Crown Perfumery "Crown Fougere" because they are almost identical or Trumpers "Wild Fern".
Maybe you should also try the notorious aromatic fougeres of the late 70ies/early 80ies which are basically spicy versions of the classical fougere theme: Azarro pour Homme and Tuscany, the latter a very beautifull sunny version of the theme with an awsome bergamot note in the topnotes......

Trumper's Wild Fern is the closest to the Penhaligon's that I've tried. I slightly prefer the Penhaligon's as having a fresher grassy quality.
I agree with Christian's 'notorious aromatic fougeres' suggestions. After many years away from it, I wore Azzaro PH a couple of weeks ago. It put a smile on my face - deep and spicy. They don't make em that that any more!

I am on the other side of this one from Michael, I think Wild Fern from Trumpers is the better fern by a nose. Neither that nor the Penhaligon's has particularly great longevity, though you would think the Penhalogon's entry would be a bit of a powerhouse in that regard, but no.
