Why the "Musc Ravageur + Noir Epices" pairing?
Question:
In the many posts that discuss the samples sent by FM, I've noticed that this seems to be the most common pairing; I got it as well. I was seriously hoping I would like the fragrance as well as the name of Noir Epices, but it didn't work particularly well on me. I like Musc Ravageur, but on me, it is simply not different enough from MV3 for me to seriously consider buying it, at least not at this time. I'm still enjoying these, however, they're well-composed, even if I'm not going insane over them. I'm certain that the preferences and chemistry of all those who received these two samples vary considerably from one another; any theories as to why it is being so widely distributed? Answer: I got those two as well as suggestions. I'm not surprised really, since I tend to favour spicy scents. Of the two, I preferred Musc Ravageur, which surprised me as a) I don't like most musks and b) I'd expected to like Noir Epices better. Noir Epices wasn't really what I expected as the geranium was really in your face, whereas I expected it to be more centred on spices. Answer: Interesting that you say they are the most common pairing. I got the same suggestions from them too. But I had my mind so stuck on Le Parfum de Therese, that I asked them to include a sample of it too, which turned out for the best for both me and Editions de Parfum, because as soon as I finished the sample I had to buy the largest bottle they have available! I didn't go crazy for neither Musc Ravageur nor Noir Epices. In fact, Noir Epices was repulsive on my skin. It smelled terribly musky, and now that you've mentioned the geranium, I understand why. This note is quite dangerously dominant on my skin. I had to pass it on. As for Musc Ravageur - it's more of a vanilla and spice scent to me than a musk scent, and very intense at that. It smells like cinnamon buns to me. http://ayalasmellyblog.blogspot.com/...-ravageur.html I like it but it's a little too much for me. I am glad that I found L de Lolita Lempicka though, by the same perfumer (Maurice Roucel), more easily available, and a lot more subtle and to my taste. It's my favourite of the new releases in the past few years, a real gem actually! Answer: Geranium is a very in your face not anyway - either that or my nose is particularly sensitive to it, as it is with violets. I like it, but as an essential oil rather than on my skin. I also didn't find Musc Ravageur that musky - it was more of a citrus spice fragrance on my skin, but I found myself really warming to it. As I don't really like musk, that's fine with me. Answer: Guess what? They sent me Noir Epices also! Do you think it is their least popular one and they are trying to promote it? I didn't really "get it" and found it too harsh and masculine. They did however also send me Un Lys Mediterrane and Iris Poudre both of which I adored. Answer: They sent me Noir Epices, La Parfum de Therese and Une Fleur de Cassie. Answer: Much as I love Musc Ravageur, I cannot stand Noir Epices. I tried, I really did, lol... But on me, it reeks of cheap aftershave and evokes disturbing images of some polyester suit clad has been playboy on the bad side of the 50s, with a sweaty face like an old, melting caramel left too long on the dashboard of a leopard print interior pink cadillac, chest hair A LA Austin Powers but none of the laughs. ... On my hairstylist however, it's a phenomenal, achingly beautiful, drop dead gorgeous, profoundly mysterious wonder, slightly on the bittersweet side with artful underlying smoothness, and everytime I smell it on her I am reminded that all skins are not created equal and that life is damn unfair, sometimes. -------------------------------------- Oh and I lurrrrrrve Iris Poudre. Answer: I was sent Noir Epices also....and Une Rose. I've only worn them once each, so am unsure of my final verdict, but I think I like but don't love either. And they're far too expensive to purchase as likes... Answer: I must be the odd one out. I was recommended L'eau d'Hiver and En Passant both of which I really liked. Actually love En Passant, such a clean, pure scent. I had expressed a preference for soft musks, mandarin and gardenia notes. Like Ayala there was one particular Malle scent I had been intrigued by, for me it was Lipstick Rose. Les Senteurs kindly sent me a sample of this and it did not dissappoint. I have this on my wishlist now alongside En Passant. Two completely different scents but I love them both. Were Musc Ravageur and Noir Epices recommended if you noted a liking for spices? I listed my favourites at the time, which included I believe Femme, Shalimar, Miss Dior and Parfum Sacre. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
