I"ll chime in on this again. My theory is that what smells attractive to a woman should smell attractive to a gay man, from the imperceptible pheremones on out. It just makes perfect sense to me I can feel it in my bones as it were.
So you should just be asking which fragrances are the sexiest for men to wear and people should be giving you answers like musc ravageur, cuir mauresque, or any of a million things.
I guess by my logic it should be easier for a gay man to recognize when a cologne is sexy on himself than it might be for a straight guy so just be promiscuous with fragrances and find out what turns you on!

Hey Supermarky, your reply most aptly answered what I was trying to investigate about cologne and attraction. Maybe I worded my question poorly. But probably scientifically it's all about the phernomes. So presumably through evolution each person's own body "fragrance" is what turns them on. Maybe perfumes entice someone to get closer and then the natural phernomes kick in! Now to figure out which ones will make him want to come closer! I like your idea about buying what turns me on and what I like. However, if some fragrance that I didn't like worked, I would try it!
