If you look carefully at it and the second link, the boxes are identical and bottles are the similar except for the terribly dated wooden cap and slightly different bottle shape. Carven had the good sense to eventually replace the dated wooden cap with a metallic looking cap and streamline and modernize the bottle. The similarities and differences will be more apparent from the following images: carven vetiver 1st reformulation older bottle (from 1974) 001.jpg carven vetiver original reformulation bottle and box 001.jpg Here are a few pictures of the various bottles the vintage 1957 formulation came in; although, I am not to sure about the second one: carven vetiver original formulation bottle 001.jpgcarven vetiver original formulation bottle and box 001.jpg scentemental Answer: WOW! Beautiful packaging (The latest botlle) Answer: I'm really hot to try this stuff too. Especially given the idea of returning toward the original release formula--would that other houses would seek such a goal! I had a bottle of the reformulated version and I went for it because I love vetivers and especially the Guerlain style grassy wood variety. But the way Carven's version just plain hid and ran away after an hour drove me crazy. I gave the bottle away. In a stronger and more durable mix, the Carven would be a daily delight. Maybe that's what we'll have a chance with now. I've never had a chance to try the other Carven vetiver, Vetiver Dry. I know that's not what's discussed in this thread, but I've always meant to seek it out. Also, Lanvin's recent release of its vetiver was a huge let down. I know it has a fan or two on the board, but I was nothing but bored with it. I seem to remember the idea that it was to be a return to, and updating of, the Lanvin Vetiver from three or four decades ago. I hope the Carven isn't a repeat of a return-to-the-glory-of-old marketing flop. I can't wait to try it though. --Chris Answer: Hello, me again. Just a note to tell one and all that I found the beautiful bottle of New Carven Vet at the discount fragrance shop on Madison Ave, just few doors south of the Art of Shaving store.
