Scents you were astonished to like? - Page 3
Question:
I find myself sneaking my daughters Narciso Rodriguez EDP. Yes, the one with the big, strange peach note, not the subtle EDT. There's something about that peach that I just crave every now and then. Also L'Artisan Parfumeur Drole de Rose, which was like candied violets and rose. Purely floral and fruity, not like the other rich florals I wear--leaning toward Chypre or Oriental. But I liked those little violets and roses, I really, really did. It was great. Parfum de Therese, which had alot of melon in it. I originally thought it was not "earthy" enough, too airy. But that fruit was so spicy and delicious, so juicy. I fell in love with it on the second go-round. Stunning fragrance. Bandit and Cabochard. Two weird little things. Must be the galbanum. I'm not sure I can handle a full bottle yet, but I'm pointed that way. Originally, I had fallen for the "intermediate" version of Bandit, the pretty little pure parfum manufactured temporarily by Adrien Arpel, which is not the same as the brutal "real" Bandit made now by Fashion Fragrances and Cosmetics. But I just long for it now and then. Answer: There are a few that qualify for this category... My initial encounter with Lolita Lempicka edp was one of horror, I truly hated it! Well, it really was just awful. Then when Lolita - L came on scene, I was 100% sure I would dislike it just as much - but, how wrong I was! I loved it! - Instantly, had to have it! In turn, that encouraged me to retry the original Lolita Lepicka edp again and - what do you know! Now I LOVE it! ~Fantasy ~ Pink Sugar ~ Jolie Madame ~ Kingdom ~ Youth Dew ~ Fendi ~ Gaultier˛ ~ Kenneth Cole New York Women ~ Bandit ~ Rochas Femme ~ Chergui ~ Alien ~ Crystal Noir ~ Answer: This morning I decided to go perfume shopping, armed with my list of BN suggestions for sensual & summery (humid weather) fragrances. Well, country stores don't offer a huge range of fragrances, so I could only test 2 fragrances on the list. Unfortunately, I bombed out on both of them but the SA suggested I try Princess by Vera Wang as a summer/humid weather scent. She said it's classified as a soft oriential & that it may suit my skin chemistry, as the citrus & straight florals didn't suit. The top notes were almost too sweet but they quickly toned down into this light whimsical almost magical fragrance with no horrible chemical smelling notes. I don't do whimsical...well I never did until now! I can't even detect individual notes but my imagination says it's a lightly candied, enchanted fairy garden. I've gone crazy....even as a teenager I didn't do whimsical or girly fragrances, too busy wearing Aviance Night Musk, Rumba & later Dolce Vita. Now, I've just got to get over the fact that I'm wearing a 'teeny bopper' scent!!! Answer: A whole bunch of the Signature Collection by Bath and Body works. Specially Black Raspberry and Vanilla. Answer: I was never a leather gal and I was astounded by Jolie Madame after a few session of training and test drive. It was a substantial break through in my perfume spraying career and now I have also learned to enjoy Cuir de Russie and Habit Rouge. Answer: I was surprised as hell to like Creed Royal English Leather - it sounds so stuffy from the name, I would never have thought of trying it on. But try it I did and I loved it so much I had to buy it. I was also surprised to like Musc Ravageur, as (as a rule) I have an aversion to musk, and I'm only so-so on citrus scents (the bergamot is pretty in your face). But it's a great, well put together scent and I'll be adding it to my collection in a month or so. Answer: I was surprised i liked Mitsouko as i am normally nota chypré person at all. Alos have experimented and reacted positively with Aromatics Elixir EdT. I like it, best in hot summer at night and with "walk-through" method. Somehow reminds me of the smell of greek islands.
