For fun - scents for my inner Drag Queen
Question:
Having just posted on the wardrobe thread that my inner drag queen is surprisingly well indulged (Kingdom, My Queen, Lipstick Rose...), I just wondered what your choice would be for your inner drag queen (if you have one). My friends have always insisted that my English Rose exterior conceals a diamonte clad Brazilian drag queen.

Any suggestions?

Answer:
And indeed it is a fun thought!!
After pondering, I have to confront the fact that my Inner Drag Queen is actually my Outer Drag Queen...I always end up with in-your-face, never-forget-me frags (and clothes)...Kingdom, Lipstick Rose (if only on wish list - but I'm closing in on it!), my new-best-friend Tabu, anything Lauder/Clinique (I worked for/with Madame - she always said "If you can't smell 'em, you can't sell 'em!"). Habanita! Rumba!!
I try to be the lady I was brought up to be but so far it hasn't worked - and I'm 77 so I guess it ain't gonna.
And we all know that English Roses are the strongest babes around - you've had real queens, sexy and shrewd with real guts. Here in the Colonies many are still aghast at the mere thought of a female President!!
You go girl!!

Answer:
Gosh, I bet you have some stories to tell, Taolady!

Lauder, now there's a thought, Spellbound was a favourite a while back, now there's one that would work well with diamonte and tassels

I need to start building a new sampling list for when I'm ready to venture away from comfort scents, will add your suggestions to it.

And thank you! I hope I will be participating and posting at 77 and beyond too.

Answer:
Who knows, it could be President Hillary next!
And I sincerely hope I'm as vibrant and fun-loving as you when I hit 77, Taolady!
As for drag queeny perfumes, I'm not sure I have anything that fits the bill just yet - I'm still very much in the exloring phase.
How is Tabu, by the way? It looks from the ingredients that it should have similarities with Youth Dew, though I have to say I don't get on all that well with Youth Dew.

Answer:
Drag Queen?
Does it have to be dressy then? And glitzy? And like lots of attention?
I have lots of Chypres.
Woefully, I never dress up, so I am wearing them with jeans and a t-shirt.

Answer:
When I was younger, I was mistaken for a "drag queen" a couple of times. Alot of my friends were haircutters & musicians, and in the seventies, the look was unisex, and I was a cross between Steven Tyler & Grace Slick. Now I just look middle aged...lol... I wore Jungle Gardenia by Tuvache. That original formulation was hot. This guy I was going out with, who happened to look like a male version of me, bought a bottle after smelling it on me & wore it himself. I have to say I was the lead singer in quite a few Rock Bands in N.Y., so I had that "look." Yea, I was looking wild & sexy, way before Madonna. My boyfriend (who also was a lead singer in a band) would not only wear the perfume I did, but bought a couple of the same tops, and one time had his hair in the same exact hairstyle...weird...

On me Tabu is a mellowed-down Youth Dew - more refined, subtler fruits and flowers. It's inexpensive enough to give it a try - or I will be glad to send you a sample!

...
Exactly! Like Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Some Like it Hot, Connie & Carla. Possibly slightly fuzzy around the gender boundaries, or else outrageously feminine. Actually Bvlgari Black might do it too...

I have never been mistaken as a drag queen, more's the shame. Still there's still time.

Answer:
Ungaro Diva for sure. The boldest, most demanding scent in my wardrobe. Haven't worn it much because my personality is just not 'big' enough to do it justice. If I had an inner drag queen she'd wear it with real style!

Answer:
Poison and Lipstick Rose
