Madini Oils Have Been Added to the Direcotry
Question:
The Madini perfume oils have been added to the directory. Now those of us who have sampled them and liked them can post reviews. Please add yours to the database. If you haven't tried them, they are very interesting and worth looking into. Check out the website. http://madini.com/ These are oil-based pure parfums, with no alcohol. They include many natural ingredients. They are strong and long-lasting. The cost is $10 for five samples, but they will probably give you seven if you order a fragrance. A 6 ml bottle costs $25, which translates to $123 for an ounce of pure parfum, about half of what a commercial brand costs. Some of these formulas are very old, Arabic perfumes. Give 'em a try. I loved Sahara, an amber-myrrh-citron blend and would recommend it to anyone who likes Shalimar, Samsara, and Ambre Sultan. I'm going to order some, get more samples, and post reviews as I go. Answer: Sahara is one of my favorites, too, Purplebird7. Maderas de Oriente is another one, which I rarely see mentioned. I need to do a side-by-side with Sahara to compare, but it is a rich wood, also, with the overall effect having a sweeter nuance. A few years ago, I went on a perfume oil binge and, overtime, have accrued a good majority of their entire line. As with all oils (maybe moreso with Madini), patience is the key. For me, it takes a good ten minutes for them to settle on my skin before their true essence begins to project. Then, oh my goodness, you could not ask for a more refined and unmuddled scent. The longer you wear them, the better they get. Answer: Oooooh.... these sound right up my alley! Must check them out. Thanks for link Purplebird7! Answer: So, JAG, which ones did you try? And which ones did you like? Please jot down some short reviews and post them under the Madini brand in the directory. I was thinking of starting a round-robin with some samples, maybe five people could do it. Rules would be: 1) You cannot hold the samples for more than three days. 2) You must use only one or two small applications of each. 3) You must post reviews to the directory as soon as you are done. 4) You must promtly mail them to the next person on the list. Any takers? They are 1 ml vials, so they won't go far. If follow the rules, we should be able to read eachother's reviews in the directory in one month. I'm up for anything and this sounds great. Love the site and want every single oil but haven't figured out how to order samples (it's only been a hasty perusal - will give it another go when I'm back from Tai Chi.) Would all five buy different samples and we would do a round robin? E.G. on day one - each of the five would, for three days, wear X number of frags, write and post a review, and at the end of the third day (or before) pass those samples on to the next person on the list? They eventually come back to them? Or at the end of the fifth day the samples are all depleted? Enquiring minds want to know! (You may have a tiger by the tail here girl! And I don't mean Tigs!!) Answer: No, I will buy ten of them. I will try a dab of each, write reviews, and send them to the next person on the list. The next person tries a little of each, writes reviews, and mails them on. Nobody else has to buy any. Just make sure to leave enough for the next people, and mail them quickly. See? Round-robin. Answer: Originally Posted by purplebird7 So, JAG, which ones did you try? Purplebird7, about the only thing my poor, old nose can distinguish in a fragrance is if it is pleasing or repulsive (the repulsive ones being few and far between, unfortunately). I do good to detect the rose in a rose soliflore so I am in awe of people who can dissect a fragrance from top to bottom. When I read reviews about a perfume I own, I'm going, oh yeah, that's what that note is. But on my own, I am useless. As soon as my work load lightens up a bit, I will share a few comments about the ones I have in my collection. I think I can, at least, determine if they are flowery, spicy, fruity, etc. Answer: Originally Posted by purplebird7 No, I will buy ten of them. 'Course, there's no time limit (other than not holding onto the samples for more than three days) so I guess they could join in if they wanted to. Anyway, I'm still your girl and will work with you any way you like. The Madinis sound scrumptious and I love the exoticism of the house. Do we get to request certain samples? And can we not bear some of the cost of them? Later: Got: Ambargris; Four Seasons; Mango; Shadow and Sun Answer: Looks like we don't have any more takers, so I will PM you Taolady.
