Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

Do your colleagues smell nice?
Question:
I'm beginning to think it's because of where I live (West Midlands, U.K.)
or my workplace (school) but I hardly ever smell perfume on my colleagues
and if they are wearing it, it's too subtle to notice. As a perfume lover,I find this rather sad. I always try to smell nice, but rarely does anyone notice or comment, except sometimes the school secretary, who is obviously into scent as well. Generally, I find it hard to catch a whiff of perfume on others
and am wondering if not many people round here wear it!
Similary, I seem to be the only one at school who ever wears any make-up - not much, but at least some eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. Is it just my observation or are the majority of teachers rather drab and unadorned on purpose? Maybe they all need an injection of scent into their stressful, responsible lives.
Your thoughts please....

Answer:
Thankfully I work on my own since going freelance last year, so all I get to smell is myself and the cats (who, thankfully, are clean and basically scent-free). At my old job I was sandwiched at a desk between someone who spritzed on l'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme once every two hours or so in quantities which would make you wince, and someone who wore Vera Wang and CK Euphoria on alternate days. Probably says more for the job and the personalities involved than it does about my nose, but I really really can't stand any of those fragrances now.

Answer:
I have a male colleague who wears Le Male (JPG) and a female colleague who wears Chanel Allure. I'm not sure what my boss wears - it's something vaguely spicy. Another male colleague has been testing Paco Rabanne Ultra Violet Man (I know this because he asked what I thought).

Answer:
I don't work, so all I smell is me, my son & my cat at home. My son wears Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin mostly & my cat smells like me, because he's hugged alot. I don't notice that many people wearing perfume when I'm out & about, which is strange, just a select few.

Answer:
I have only one colleague who wears perfume, but she lives many corridors away from me. She wears the same scent every day, White Witch from the Caribbean. It is very nice, and we had a couple of brief disussions about perfume a few months ago, so I made her a gift of a few samples - including Tabac Blond - but if she ever tried them I never heard about it. She is quite happy as she is without unsolicited interference from me, but I was disappointed not to extend the shared experience of perfume lovers.
No one at work ever comments on my perfumes, which I change almost daily. I think everyone is being polite. I wonder if they think I stink something awful (in Caron?!), and arrive in perfume much too early in the day (7am).
In perfume heaven it is never too early or too late.

I get compliments from select people about the scents I wear, sometimes alot , sometimes nothing. I am surprised how little I smell scents on others, and when I do, nothing that to me, smells that good to compliment. Most people that I encounter, are not that into perfume, they just spray something on that they like, and don't give it a second thought. To me, perfume is so important, and something I take great pleasure in & put thought into every selection. I wouldn't worry about the people in your office, who don't notice or comment on your perfume, as long as you smell beautiful to you & someone more important with good taste will notice & compliment.

Answer:
My colleagues also smell of "nothing". Most of my friends are the same. I don't think any of them wear perfume on a daily basis, only for going out. I find this really sad and actually quite weird! My mum (the source of my scent addiction) and I were talking about it the other day, and we agreed that wearing no scent is like wearing no underwear - weird and unfathomable! In fact, I'd go without underwear over going without perfume any day of the week.
I have one acquaintance who loves perfume too, and we have sort of bonded over this and have become casual friends - I always noticed her because she smelled lovely and different all the time!! How sad for other people to miss out on this whole world of experience and interest

Thank you Dolly. Indeed I do get comments - good ones - closer to home. I wear perfumes to please myself first of all, so I'm happy most days. Only once in a while do I regret the choice of perfume, but that can be remedied with judicious washing and reapplication of decants carried in my bag. Wearing perfumes at work is a self-comforting gesture, but also a source of stimulation and great pleasure.

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment, of how sad for other people to miss out on something so wonderful & enjoyable...the world of scent...at least we won't have to!!

Answer:
Not many women wear scent where I work. There is one who douses herself with Angel and a few BBW lovers but as a whole they smell like whatever they ate for lunch. Some of the men smell marvelous though.
