Guerlain Vetiver; Decent Deal?
Question:
I've been hovering around it for almost two months, part of it's via reviews and recommendations, but mostly due to my personal preferences and the listed notes. Saw what looked like a sweet deal and pounced (If I were an -intelligent- man, I'd have asked for thoughts FIRST, but I'm more of a 'I'm just going to damn well DO it' man, intelligence only making the occasional appearance). Just ordered a 4.2oz of Guerlain Vetiver for $19.45. Of course, I'm also interested in updated thoughts about this particular fragrance if anyone's bored enough to contribute them -- I realize there are tomes and tomes to be searched, but since I'm asking something about it anyway... Thanks, ya'll. (And, to a lesser extent, curse ya'll for helping drag me further into a rather addictively fascinating hobby. ) Answer: yes you got a very good deal. not especially unusual (have seen similar deals) but i have yet to see a better deal so what else can you ask for? i am a girl who doesn't wear guerlain vetiver but i enjoy smelling it on people who do wear it (of course there are lots of girls who wear it and maybe one day i will take the plunge . . . ) i love vetiver note in general, not that i have lots of perfumes that use it but i just find it so refreshingly harsh if that makes any sense. not harsh in an allergenic kind of ouch way but just, kind of like a surprise for the nose. if that makes any sense. i know lots of people on here are real experts on all the different vetivers and their nuances but i'm not an expert, i just like guerlain's take on it a lot. if at first you are slightly put off or surprised by it don't be alarmed, it may some taking getting used to but it is a really interesting, cool fragrance. all that for 20 dollars! not bad Answer: That's a great deal, Travtex, and I couldn't agree with LoneFish more. Especially about the caution--you might hate this stuff. I know I did for the first times I smelled it, but after that, believe you me, it sucked me in. Guerlain's Vetiver is a nose-controler. A milestone in men's fragrances. Sometimes it is so magical that I can't inhale long enough to get at the notes hidden in the back of it--breaths come up short. Some people hate it, so I really hope that doesn't happen to you. If I had to live in only one scent this is the one it would be. Fantastic deal too. If you hate the stuff I won't feel bad since you got such a steal. Very best with it--keep me posted. --Chris Answer: Is this deal still available? I want! Answer: dsds...check out scentiments.com where it's $21.99 every day and I think the postage is about $4.99. Granted, it's a tester but who cares? Ooops, hold the presses, I found it at www.bigdiscount.com for $19.95 and postage is $5.95. Ebay is fun but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and buy one. I mean, who has time to wait for a good deal when Spring is just around the corner? Answer: http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Vetiver-by-Gue...cm dZViewItem If you like guerlain vetiver and live in the states this is an absolute bargain ,3 old style bottles going for a starting bid of $29.99 and no takers yet Answer: Trav, That is a good deal. G. Vetiver has been hovering just above that price for a long time now. Heritage is also easy to find cheap right now. I like vetiver, but I'm not an enthusiast for it. Even if you don't like it, chances are somebody here will swap it or buy it from you. It's very popular around here. Cheers Answer: So much for THAT deal. After a nice lengthy wait, I receive the following via e-mail: "We are sorry to inform you that the item you have ordered recently became out of stock. Unfortunately, we cannot place the item on back order at this time since we do not have an estimated return date. Your order has been cancelled and no charges were made to your account. We apologize for any inconvenience." Niiiiiice. "Oops, we didn't actually have that thing we sold you. Our bad. Thanks." Answer: yeah, there's a website (with tons of different domain names) that is famous for doing this a lot. i guess you might have ordered from one of them? order from scentedmonkey, i never have but i hear they're reliable http://www.scentmonkey.com/product.php?code=M-1363 Answer: Scentmonkey proves reliable as ever -- Got my GV today. Somewhat surprised by the scent. It has a 'Light yet Strong' aspect to it (I could see this stuff clearing out the sinuses, lol) with a cooling effect that brings menthol to mind before it dries down. Definitely different from anything else hanging about in my budding collection. Have yet to catch a note I dislike (Particularly fond of catching the occasional ghost of citrus. Much 'cooler' lemon here than I'd expect by just seeing the notes on paper). Nope, no swaps, here. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
