Crown Perfumery "Must Have's"
Question:
I found a site with quite a few of the original Crown offerings. Are all of the Crown products discontinued? Which (if any) are "must have" scents. I'm wrapping up my "Get 'em while I can" campaign and I want at least one Crown product. Thanks for your help Answer: I have tested a couple of the Crown Perfumery offerings (Eau de Quinine, Town & Country, Marquis, Park Royal) and I own Sandringham and Crown Fougere. The last-mentioned are my favorites from the line, even though in case I had to choose again what classical fougere to get I would prefer English Fern to Crown Fougere. Both are very similar but English Fern has a a subtle sweetness that makes it more comfortable. Great classical line which indeed has been discontinued. A couple of discontinued frags are still produced by the "Anglia Perfumery" which has bought a couple of licenses. These are sold at very reasonable prices. I dont know if the formulations are changed, though. For the "Anglia Perfumery" check www.english-scent.de Christian Answer: Originally Posted by CuyahogaJoe I found a site with quite a few of the original Crown offerings. Thanks for your help All are discontinued but a few original blends are still being produced by Anglia Perfumery. www.parfumsraffy.com also stock some but they are rather expensive in parts. I have a few Favourites / HG that I think everyone should try: Crown Fougere (M) Marechale (F) Eau de Quinine (M) Town & Country (M) Crown Imperial (M) Matsukita (F) Eau de Russe (U) Other favourites are Crown Rose and Tanglewood Bouquet. There are many that I would still love to try - classics like Sandringham, Esterhazy, Spiced Limes and I fully intend to obtain some when I am next able to. If you enjoy classic colognes and British perfumery (Penhaligons, Czech & Speake, Trumpers, Floris, etc) you can't go wrong with Crown Perfumery scents. If you somehow manage to then let me know... they are bound to find a good home with me... Answer: Several are now made by Anglia Perfumery: Park Royal, Marquis, Crown of Gold, Spiced Limes. http://www.anglia-perfumery.com/ To me the best Crown is Sandringham. For muguet lovers. Imperial is the best lemon top ever, but I can't handle the powerdy base. Town&County as well as Eau de Quinine are very nice. Haven't tried Sumare, but hear it's very fine. Edit: and if you like rose, Maréchale (original) is a heavenly morning-dew rose, with green & teanotes. Answer: Crown Imperial and Eau de Quinine are very classy. Old fashioned, but in a good sense, they have that note of authority and craft that is missing from many modern scents. Town and Country is similarly well-made but there is something in the sage/lavender accord that is very offputting (to my nose at least - it's faintly urine). Crown Imperial is probably a slight favourite, my batch is at least 10 years old. For a spicy citrus it is holding up reasonably well, but it must have been better when it was fresh and I can't imagine that it's getting better. Answer: i've only tried one - eau de russe (but i am dying to try more) and i LOVE eau de russe. i hardly wear it just 'cause i just have a 5 ml decant and i love it that much. really wonderful bergamot/vanilla scent Answer: I bought a bottle of Sandringham from first-in-fragrance. I loved the sample and I thought it's probably the last bottle to get, but first-in-fragrance seems to stock some hundred bottles in their basement .... Answer: what's the site that you found? Answer: I know nothing about their scents, but the Perfume House in Portland seems to have a lot of them. They may have some of the rarer ones you're looking for, although you would need to know what you want first unless you can make it to Portland. Just wanted to mention that in case they might be a good sort! I've been meaning to check them out at some point. Should do that sooner rather than later, I suppose. Answer: Well, they're ALL worth trying, but my personal favorites are Marquis, the progenitor of the Green Irish Tweed/Cool Water/JF line of fougeres, Sumare, a very masculine mossy leather and Fougere, a superb fern. Sandringham, Spiced Limes and Imperial are quite good as well, though as mentioned, Imperial is quite powdery in the drydown. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
