Effervescent Fragrances
Question:
This should be a new category. They are beyond the point of simply being fresh. They seem to bubble. A few that come to mind: Terre d'Hermes, Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand (really been enjoying those two lately), Mugler Cologne, Miller Harris Tangerine Vert, Hermes Eau d'Orange Vert. Any more for this list? How do perfumers achieve that effect? Is it just the notes used, or is there some chemical trick?
In particular, what do you think of TdH vs. Isfarkand? I think they have a lot of similiarities, but where TdH is mineralic, Isfarkand is woody. Great effervescent peppery citrus in the topnotes in both.

The one that I immediately thought of was...

CDG Soda

Answer:
CdG Synthetic: Soda
Lemony carbonation that really sparkles.....at least when it's first applied.
Patyka Chypre
This is one is quite elusive. I'm not into organics (...give me all the aldehydes, butyl quineline, propylene glycol, etc. all that scary sounding shit! I ain't scared!!!!) Anyway, about this scent, it's supposedly all organic, as with all Patyka's products. The ingredients are all organically grown with no pesticides. There is no animals envolved in any way....not even in the ingrediants. It definitely smells organic. It's very green and sharp. It smells just like the mosquito repellant made from geranium oil, but it has something else in it that makes it wearable. It has a vibrant green feel that really pops.
I've sampled all but one of Patyka's scents. Chypre seems to last the longest...and also has the most interest for me. Overall, it does'nt compel me to buy a bottle on basis that it does'nt last very long. It stays pretty close to the skin, but 100 smackers for a scent that hides?....I'll go with CdG at that price. If it were half the price, then maybe I'll buy it. Still worth trying, though.

As my mind wandered during yoga class today, I was thinking I should really start wearing Adidas Moves again since it's been such warm weather. That's definitely an effervescent fragrance, complete with "ginger ale accord."

Aramis - Bermuda Tonic

Great thread. I read the title and thought of D'Orsay's Etiquette Bleu right away. Amazing radiance of notes that seem to make my skin carbonated. Or something pretty like that.
Guerlain's Imperiale, Eau du Coq, Fleurs de Cedrat, and Eau de Guerlain do the same for me. Sometimes it comes from Passage d'Enfer and even from Diptyque's L'Autre too. I also wonder what causes the effect. Might be bergamot, but that's also in so many fragrances that don't really go effervescent on me.
I wish there were more and that they lasted longer.

Never properly smelt it, but would Royal Bain de Caron fit in here?
