Italian style fragrances like D&G pour homme?
Question:
I am really in love with D&G pour homme, as to me, this is sooo Italian. It must be the mixture of violetts, tobacco and especially citrus.
I also own D&G Masculine. Both scents give off this particular Italian lifestyle feeling that I so much adore.
Are there any fragrances that give off the same vibe (they shouldn't be clones of D&G p.h., though...)?!?

Answer:
The two frags that evoke Italy to me are Acqua di Parma (Assoluta for me although many diasgree) and Essenza di Zegna (Intense for me, the old one with the leather case not the new black stripe Intenso which is too sweet - how confusing!). Both feature really fresh sharp citrus, AdP has a floral base, EdZ a woody one.

Answer:
You should look into Krizia Uomo. Smells like the Italian countryside, Lavander, cypress, citrus, woods, jasmine, etc. It's Italy distilled in a bottle.

Answer:
I second Colonia Assoluta! Also Canali Men and Ferré for Him are very much worth of trying :-)

I like this topic - I am not Italian, but due to the fact that my diet is 60% Italian food, I consider myself an honorary Italian.
I also love Italian culture, music, clothing, on and on. Even my handle here, of course, is Italian.
For scents, Gucci can certainly be kept in mind, and Laura Biagiotti. I haven't gotten to the expensive LV's and all that yet.

Answer:
Great question - my favorite Italian-style scent is: Numero Uno by Carthusia.
Some compare it to Colonia by Acqua di Parma, but it is MUCH MORE MASCULINE in my opinion.

Answer:
Well, I have always considered the fragrances of Bvlgari to provide a bit of what we might call "italian taste". I think of Bvlgari pour homme, for example: "Elegance in a bottle".

Answer:
Well, I just like to add other 2 cents to this thread...
Not because a scent is released from an italian brand, it smells "italian".
For example, often houses launch just what's most "edible" for their biggest market, to increment revenues. As a proof, having become probably US one of the biggest slice of Armani's market during the last 15 years, his scents have become more and more "american smelling" to my nose, losing the "italian" smell that still has his first Armani PH, so "Milano da bere" imo.
Also Bulgari scents imo aren't that italian smelling from this point of view...

Answer:
For a very similar scent...try Realities for Men by that fine Italian designer, Liz Claiborne. Just kidding, I don't think she's Italian, but the scent is very close.
