We already know what Mary Poppins wears..how about CLEOPATRA? - Page 3

Maybe it's the shoes, the dress and doctor's bag, i don't know... ;-) Cleopatra would have worn a scent pyramid containing a mixture of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lotus, amber, musk and frankincense oils on her head. These little pyramids were made of solid oils and waxes and fixed to the hair. In the warm and humid climate the solid materials would melt and flow down the wig and/or hair and melt down into the skin of the neck. She is said to have perfumed the sails of her personal boats. You could smell before seeing them on the Nile. Nowadays she's clearly an Opium person. Does anyone remember the discontinued "AMUN" by Muelhens? That was alike her smell in ancient times, i am sure... Interesting info Lillie, about the perfume pyramids, and the perfumed sails, how inventive of her, she was way before her time! I definitely agree about the Opium, for her modern day choice. It always had an aroma of spices & incense that could fit into any time period, past & future. Answer: Originally Posted by Dolly Dagger I think Mary Poppins is cute, but too prim & proper, not someone I could relate to Eh... you just haven't read the books Disney really sugars the hell out of everything. I mean, in the books, the woman basically did whatever she dam' well pleased, which doesn't say prim to me Originally Posted by Dolly Dagger but Cleo...now there's someone who had it going on. Given today's options, I think she'd go for something like Carnal Flower. Back then, she probably used some enflourage of whatever available flower that was associated with nobility, and would have avoided anything spicy/incense-y, as those notes would have been associated with embalming the dead. You know what Mysterious? I think your right about Mary, she probably wasn't so sweet after all. Kind of a control freak, and pretended to be nicer than she probably really was...kind of like my wicked step-mother, same kind of person, actually. Answer: I also agree with the Opium. But I also think Samsara EPD or Parfum. Go the Jasmine, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang. That stuff is potent when not overdone! But definitely spice and woods all the way! Answer: KL Sun Moon and Stars and Opium was the first fragrances that hit me. Answer: Well Eluard is right saying that Cleo would probably have been closer to Monica rather than Liz. After all Monica is definitely a mediterranean beauty and also from her region of provenience definitely etruscan. About the smell of Cleo, well, based on the fact they weren't used to bathe that often and that at that time women used to scent themselves with cones of honey or wax mixed with aromatic extracts put over their huge fake hairdoos, well...ahem... she should have been quite a stinky hon! So then what you're saying is, Miel de Bois? Answer: I'd say Donna Karan's Black Cashmere...sexy, sultry, and spicy! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
