I went to a Guerlain boutique today, and saw that they have re-released Chamade pour Homme in their "Les Parisiennes" collection (a euro 130 bargain...) I sprayed some on a strip of paper, but don't quite know what to think (What I know for sure is that I like Derby better !) I think I can smell violet and iris but I could be wrong. Do you know it ? Do you like it ? Any special occasions on which you like to wear this one ?

For those who don't know french, 'chamade' was the drum beat played in mediaeval times to signal the need for a parley between opposing armies. In reality, it was often a prelude to surrender as often it was the weaker army which sought the parley. So the (rather sexist) connotation is that in the battle of sexes between men and women, the heartbeat of a woman (or man) in love picks up a certain tempo to indicate a willingness to surrender.
