Iris silver mist v. Dior Homme
Question:
I have Dior Homme and know how it smells, what is the sillage, feeling when you wear it..I smelled Iris silver mist from wax samples.. But how does it smell in real? Can you compare these two...? Answer: I have both and I'd say the Iris note in Dior Homme is much lighter than ISM. lighter by at least half, probably more. Answer: They are very different. There is something sweet and "sticky" about Dior Homme that makes it very addictive at first sniff but, at least in my opinion, makes it a little cloying in the drydown (where the iris note has almost gone), but some might say it actually makes it sexy. Whatever. Still, it is a very nice fragrance, and I would love to wear it if it wasn't so sweet. Iris Silver Mist on the other hand has an almost offputting effect when first applied (it often reminds one of carrots !) : it is actually a very faithful rendition of the smell of iris. I don't particularly enjoy that phase. Then, the "carrot" note gives way to a more floral and intense pattern that men will not necessarily enjoy (at least I don't), which doesn't last for too long anyway (I'd say about half an hour.) And then... then... well, the name says it all. Imagine the smell of iris (that you smelled at first) diluated, as if in a fog. It's understated, it's highly refined, it's sheer beauty. (I personally never wear it, but love to spray Iris Silver Mist on my sheets and in wardrobes.) PS: I think Shifts wears Iris Silver Mist on a regular basis, maybe he can help you ? Answer: I only have a sample of ISM, but I think this isn't a good choice in hot weather at all. In the colder season it's the best IMHO, the best of all. So as far as wearability goes, Dior Homme is the way to go. Answer: Actually I love Iris Silver Mist in warm weather - I find it cool and refreshing like an earthen cellar. I imagine I'd feel somewhat 'ice queen' wearing it during a freeze. Spring is my favourite time of year for it. My vote is for Iris Silver Mist, as a magical, beautiful, and unique fragrance. If easy to wear is what you are after though, perhaps the Dior. Originally Posted by dr.creed I only have a sample of ISM, but I think this isn't a good choice in hot weather at all. Answer: L'Homme de Coeur is both, very fresh and natural smelling iris, and extremely wearable; so wearable that I consider it to be my signature, along with LV Uomo ofcourse. It doesn't have any sweetness to it, so if you, like I did, find Dior Homme quite dissapointing, this might be for you. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
