Question:
i received on JAN 21 the reply from FM, and today from Paris to Vilnius came two samples : Musc Ravageur, and Noir Epices.
i sprayed on my wrist Musc Ravageur... and... i have to say that... yes, it' s relly intereting smell, really memorizeble.
there was a discusition : which one is better - egoiste or musc ravageur. they are different, but both really good. egoiste is sweeter.
very nice that FM send 5 ml samples, because you can try the scent for several days and decide if it's yours or not. I don' t know whether Musc Ravageur will become one of my most favorites, but that it is exclusive, gourmand scent, it is true.
and Noir Epices- also very nice ,even oriental, chypre.
I haven't expected that FM produces such great scents. (i was a bit dissapointed with l'artisan, creed, which i tryed a mont ago when i was in London. quite liked serge lutens. but these two scents from FM show to me very hifgh quality of these scents. very refined, very elegant.
i would like to try and the other scents of that company. interestig , if i liked these two, what else would i like?

With Musc Ravageur Maurice Roucel really wanted to create something along the lines of a Guerlain... and to me MR does remind me a lot of Shalimar without the citrus topnotes. I'm sure it's in part because of MR that Mr Roucel got to work on L'Instant.

They didn't send me any samples (I live in London so they pointed me in the direction of Les Senteurs instead, and it was really fun to go visit that shop!) but those are the two they recommended to me also.
I have a sample of Musc Ravageur from there, and it's growing on me at a colossal rate. Despite not liking many musks, I can wear this, and enjoy it all day. It's very citrussy, but warm and spicy too. The longevity is excellent. I applied it around 7.30am and I could still smell it at my Thai boxing class at 7.30pm.
When I sprayed it on the testing strip in the shop, I wasn't that impressed ("oh, another bergamot scent...") but on the skin it warms up into something special.
Noir Epices didn't impress me as much (it didn't smell like dark spices so much as orange and geranium with a hint of clove - actually it smelled like my mother's pomanders). It wasn't really what I expected. But I may grab a tester next time I go to Les Senteurs so I can see what it's like on the skin.

the body oil i use (this works dry leg oil) includes "anti-ageing Rose from Morocco, nourishing Sandalwood from India, regenerative, blemish-defying Patchouli (Indonesia) and costly Tuberose as well as Evening Primrose, Macadamia and Pure Coconut Oil" - do you think this would blend well with the fm or be a complete disaster? i'm also looking into bond no. 9's new haarlem . . .
