Surprising dissapointments - Page 2
Question:
Most of my disappointments aren't surprising. Like someone else mentioned, I get very disappointed when a company changes a formulation, that has been around for ages, and tries to pass off the new scent as the same as the original. That is more than disappointing, it's BS. Another thing that is disappointing is when you buy a really expensive fragrance, and it last 1 hour. If I have to pay that price, then it should last. Very aggravating! Thirdly, what is disappointing to me is, that the companies assume that all women will like the new kind of scents that are really geared for young girls or younger women. I really don't care too much, because I still go towards the scents that I've always liked anyway, but enough of the fruit juice & candy, unless you like that, of course. Answer: As above, most of my disappointments haven't been surprising - they are usually those that have had bad reviews (e.g Ange ou Demon and Songes) that I am nevertheless determined to like... but then i don't. The exception so far is all the other Annick Goutal perfumes... I personally just don't see what the attraction is, but i would probably like some of them better if they were cheaper. Answer: I was in love with Hermes 24 Faubourg just from reading about it. On paper it was meant for me...on my skin it was downright foul. I am heartbroken! Answer: I thought I would like Youth Dew from the notes. As it turns out...it just doesn't work for me. Aromatics Elixir is also not quite as nice on me as I'd hoped. I've loved this on other people. I can wear it...but only just. Maybe I'll try the cream instead. Answer: Hmmm....for me it was: NAHEMA PDT- oily, greasy rose that lasted 1/2 hour then vanished. PARURE EDT- smelled like a harsher version of Mitsouko edt LOVELY- I smelled like someone spilled generic Appletini mixer on me CARNAL FLOWER - musk hell for me SHA - lasted literally 14 minutes...I timed it!! A La Nuit - drydown was musky, musky, musky mess on me KINGDOM - good grief! armpits, armpits, armpits with a touch of armpits Answer: Frankly, I was a bit disappointed by the two Malle samples sent me - Noir d"Epices and Parfum de Therese. Both were nice, but not terribly original, nor did they have very good staying power on me. Not worth the inflated price tag, in my opionion. However, they may well be better on someone else. i feel like a philistine. Answer: I 'm also disappointed with classic perfumes reformulations on the cheap! as soon as I reached 15 posts here I will post an interesting french Elle article of last year, Jean Kerleo (former Jean Patou house nose) talks about reformulations NOT after a ban on "forbidden" allergens but ONLY after recommandations by the EU! the perfume industry prefers to follow these recommendations rather than listing allergens on packaging and also it 's a good excuse for them to reformulate expensive perfumes with cheaper susbtitutes. Answer: Hehe, most of these fragrance disappontments mentioned are in fact some of my favorites: Lovely, Ange ou Demon, Insolence, L'Instant de Guerlain, Carnal Flower, Eden, Kingdom... what an oddball I am! On the other hand, my biggest disappointmens are: Stella, Cabotine, Amarige Answer: l'heure bleu disappointed me too. instead of sadness i just smelled ew. ba dum ching! musta been the carnation. Answer: Don't feel bad, Quinpus - I didn't like it either, and I was really keen to find out what Mitsouko's pre-war "twin" was like. Yesterday I also tried Vol de Nuit. It smelled like burning plastic. I don't know what did it, but it provoked an extreme disgust reaction in me. I tried Kingdom too, and got no armpits at all! Now I've heard this musty smell is down to the cumin, but I couldn't smell it. All I got was a pleasant but not particularl exciting citrus smell. I love cumin in food so this was quite a disappointment. Perhaps I need to retest it at a later date. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
