Mash-ups...Brilliance in Layering
Question:
Has anyone accidentally stumbled upon a surprisingly brilliant combination in layering fragrances? (Emphasis here on accidental or strange combinations)
This morning, I sprayed on some Quorum before I headed to work. (Only one shot. I was just in that sort of mood, don't know why.) It lasted almost all day, well into the evening. Before I headed out for the night, I decided to spray on some Dior Homme, without washing off the cologne from this morning. Oh my! It smells REALLY nice! The Dior Homme is very soft and textured, yet the stronger tobacco and leather notes of the now subdued Quorum add a wonderful touch. I would have never guessed (Quorum and Dior Homme), and probably would not be able to duplicate it if I were to spray them both on at the same time.
Any other experiences?

Answer:
I sprayed a card with Angel and put it in a bag with a shirt. Three days layer, I wore the shirt, but sprayed myself with Dior Homme. The Angel had mellowed at that point, so what I got was a brighter, sweeter Dior Homme with caramel. I would like to test it again, but don't have Angel. Maybe my nose was off that day.

Answer:
Well, I was just about to start a similar thread, about "synergistic" scent combinations where two great (or not so great) scents come together to make one masterful scent.
The combination I had in mind was about a 3:2 ratio of Escada Pour Homme to Gucci Pour Homme. The sweetness of the Escada tempers the woodiness of the Gucci, and they just go so well together. On their own, they are top-notch fragrances, but together, it is simply sublime.

Answer:
D&G PH and VERSACHE DREAMER gives a wicked combo
OLD SPICE and RIVE GAUCHE the same
TERRE D HERMES and ANTAEUS

Answer:
I think layering is done best with one of the scents being very simple. That way you really just add a few notes to the other scent, without making some horribly loud mess. I have once tried layering Le Male with Armani White He and found the result interesting. Unfortunately my Armani White has turned and I don't have it anymore... Another I will try sometime is Brit and Gucci ph.

Answer:
Goth Rosary Samhain and Bvlgari Black make an AWESOME combo!!!

Answer:
I've recently been wearing Malizia Uomo with Drakkar Noir. The combination is extremely fresh and soapy, great for the office.

Answer:
Musc Ravageur and Gucci PH is the only layering experiment i've tried that actually smells better than each frag does individually.

Answer:
Most of my layerings have been extremely simple, basically just to add a little something to the original.
One that has worked well, Bulgari au the vert layered with Demeters grapefruit tea usually gets a lot of compliments. When worn seperate no one seems to care for them
Today we're trying dior homme with Demeters Pomegranate. Maybe a little sweet, but seems to work well. I'm going to have to try the Dior Homme with a few other things. Its always seemed to be missing something so I've never really worn it.

Answer:
Czech & Speak No. 88 layered with Luctor et Emergo (PotL) - it was really an amazing combo
