URGENT...Fill in my collection's gaps
Question:
Well, I just realized two major gaps in my collection: I'm lacking a good leather scent and a citrus. But, there's challenges here. For the leather scent: -it can't be too strong -it can't be animalic or heavy (Yatagan and Antaeus come to mind) -it can't be a niche -it will be bought blind -and it can't be Curion (it's discontinued, and I have a "no purchasing discontinued fragrances" policy) And for the citrus: -it has to be relatively long-lasting -it can't be a niche -it will be bought blind I was thinking either Escada Magnetism or Guerlain Habit Rouge for the leather and Dior Eau Sauvage for the citrus. Any other suggestions? Answer: Very easy solution my friend: For the leather scent: none other than John Varvatos For the citrus scent: Claiborne Sport Answer: Try: Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme The topnotes starts off with a blast of citrus and then mellows down into a very nice leather scent. Instead of buying two seperate fragrance just buy one that shares both the characters your looking for. Its not that strong and lasts ages. Answer: Aigner In Leather Man and Mat;Male Answer: I second Aigner In Leather Man. Habit Rouge is great. John Varvatos is heavy and sweet imo so you might not like it. For citrus: Eau de Rochas Homme Eau Sauvage Monsieur de Givenchy Chanel pour Monsieur Answer: To my nose, I would classify Claiborne Sport as more of a soapy clean scent than citrus. D&G PH is an excellent lemony fragrance but it also has a strong tobacco note during the drydown so I don't know if it is considered a pure citrus scent. Answer: Citrus D&G Masculine Hermes Orange Verte Issey Miyake Colonia Assoluta Eau de Rochas YSL pour Homme Leather John Varvatos Dunhill for Men (1934) Quorum Royal English Leather Hmmm, why no discontiued scents (Cuiron)? Answer: You can buy blind at the least possible amount of risk i f you like lemon - and it lasts well: Monsieur Balmain, lemon unlimited! - Generally in citrus I would second Monsieur Givenchy (uplifting, with sillage) and also recommend Signoricci (very uplifting), plus Eau de Rochas p.M. (citrus and lighter herbs) . One of these you might find preferable to MB - but which is up to personal preferences already, or a matter of luck when you're buying blind! I had Eau Sauvage as the only citrus for many years but got tired of the faint bitter touch it seems to have, or did my last bottle just go off, before it was finished? Leather seems to be easier, and I would second In Leather (man) as a leather meeting all of your requirements! Having said this, I confess being on the search myself for the 'right' leather scent, rugged and strong, not harsh though. Maybe just the one that made you say 'it can't be too strong'. Answer: Originally Posted by Vegas Hmmm, why no discontiued scents (Cuiron)? It's not the smell factor, but the future availability factor. What if I buy a discontinued scent, then it becomes my holy grail scent, and then I can't find it anymore? That's what makes me weary of buying discontinued scents. Answer: What about Bel Ami by Hermes or Knize 10 for leather? While they might be strong their potency can easily be tempered by adjusting the application. For Citurs....Declaration by Cartier perhaps? Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
