"male"scents on women?
Question:
Today I moved into a so far completely undiscovered field for me-male scents...I tried Dior Homme and Egoiste by Chanel. In general I'm more comfortable with spicyer and warmer scents, but I also love Iris. So,this was why I was curious about these two....Dior Homme was not at all particularly masculine to my nose.Very soft, floral and a bit "pretty".It reminded me of something, but couldn't quite pinpoint what....But suddenly it hit me-Chance or Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.Egoiste had a little sharp twist to it at first, but after a while it turned into a more rosey and spicy scent.I quite enjoyed this ,and after a while it really reminded me of Bois des iles! Perhaps a little less aldehydic, but still quite close. My b.f even commented that it smelled like Gingerbread!I think I have a winner here....Any thoughts on these two frags -on women?

Answer:
no, sorry no thoughts on those particular scents but your thread reminded me about my own little discovery, burberry touch for men, on me, is pretty nice. imo. i bought this for the boy about a year ago because he said he wanted it but now a year later he's changed his mind about liking it (a very fickle guy . . .) so i sprayed on myself, liked it, and took it from him. and i like it on myself a lot. nice violet smell.

Answer:
Habit Rouge is a man 's scent I d 'like to wear, I think it would remind me of Gris Clair that I tried a couple of times last summer, the experience of a comforting smell of a man you carry along with you all day.

Answer:
I just discovered Dior Homme last month thanks to moondeva's recommendation, and agree women can wear this very well. It's softness comes from the orris, but it also has a dry leather component that aids its sensuality. I like it more every time I wear it.
I often think of Egoiste as the male counterpart to Bois Des Iles, but actually both these are quite unisex. It's obvious they are stablemates, though.
You have a good nose - both these are wonderful on women.
If you like spicy warm frags, you might try another men's fragrance, Idole De Lubin, which I'm in love with at the moment. It ups the ampage on Egoiste considerably, being warm, boozy, deep and leathery, but I find it scrumptious, in the same manner as Frapin 1270.

Answer:
I love men's fragrances because their more exotic or spicy than most women's. As much as they are nice out of the bottle or on a man, on me they still smell masculine. I agree with the previous poster, I smelled Burberry in the store, and it was very pleasant, I still pretty much stick with women's fragrances. I guess it's what you get used to, or I haven't tried enough. Sorry, no help to you.

Answer:
Although I generally love oriental fragrances, I find myself with a growing collection of "male" fragrances. I do own Egoiste, it´s quite sweet to my nose. Furthermore I fell madly in love with Antaeus a few years ago (2nd bottle now) and last week with Gris Clair ... I obviously have a thing for lavendar. I also just purchased Relax by Davidoff.
These perfumes attract me and I love smelling them on myself all day. I guess the "male"-problem is one of context: I´m visibly quite a feminine type, so I guess whatever perfume I wear is automatically placed as "feminie" in the mind of the beholder/besniffer(?uh ...?).
But interestingly, the "male"-problem poses itself to me whenever I test perfumes. I rarely try the perfumes in the "male" corner, I even avoid them.
Heh, I guess, I don´t want to be the one making the first step - but when I fall in love with a perfume by accident ... then its "gender" won´t stop me.

Answer:
I have been wearing Égoïste since it was launched in 1990, my husband (then boyfriend) found it for himself because of me, and we even got married wearing it, so it goes without saying that I have a very special relationship with it.
Because of Égoïste I was encouraged to try other men' scents, too, see my wardrobe for full list.
Today I'm wearing Habit Rouge.

I like the men's Burberry Touch too! I don't particularly like violet as a main note, but there's something about the violet and white musk in Touch that I really dig.
I urge any gourmand lovers to try Lolita Lempicka au masculin. Lots of anise and vanilla. It's SEX to the Y!!! Sidenote...it lists violet in the middle notes, but I really can't detect it.
I primarily wear men's and unisex frags. There are SOOOOO many good ones. I'm not really a girlie girl, and the softer men's frags seem to suit me.

In the days when I liked so-called male colognes better than most of the women's perfumes available to me then, I wore Égoïste and sometimes Safari. I still have a bottle of each. They are years old and long untouched. I must find out if they are still usable. I can't recall the scent of Safari today but I can conjour up Égoïste. Loved it on a man more than on myself. I used to give it as a present to men, but now I give Creeds when I can afford it. I must ask them if anyone still has an old Égoïste lying at the back of their cupboard. I'm told it is hard to find now.
I wear Terre d'Hermes sometimes, and carry a small decant with me. I love that one. Another JC Ellana special.

As a late teen, I fell in love with one of the colognes the Body Shop did for men in the 80s. It was called Raffles. I bought and wore it regularly.
I was rather surprised to find a girly female friend of mine had also fallen in love with it. It wasn't really feminine, but it was lovely. Such a shame they no longer make it.
