The Ultimate Nag Champa fragance
Question:
Hi everybody, I'm new to the community (I mean, this is my first post) but I've been reading opinions and reviews for quite a while. Great site to find out about fragances, it really is an "independent online guide". Well, the topic of my post is to find the best nag champa male fragance, I've been looking through the posts and I found these so far: -YSL's Kouros -Ava Luxe's Nag Champa -Goth Rosary's Nocturnal -Caron's Narcisse Noir But there's a problem with these ones: Kouros: I've read it smells like nag champa BEFORE burning, and what I'm looking for is the smell that remains in a room a couple of hours after burning the stick. Ava Luxe, Nocturnal and Narcisse Noir: I've been looking for but can't find them here in southern Spain. Besides, some of them are Female/ Unisex fragances... Maybe I'll have to buy it online (but I'd rather not). Same problem with some of other "ultimate" fragances I'm looking for: -Coffee fragance (Can't find Cafe noir) -Sea fragance (as I live in an interior town, I'd like to find a fragance with the wonderful smell you literally "taste" when you're driving your car into a seaside town). Thank you guys, any help will be great. Answer: For the incense one, I would recommend to try the CdG Incense series. I haven't yet, but there may be one in there, or, if you dare to, the female YSL opium variants, including the summer versions. The true nag champa smell is unisex anyway, I think. Coffee: CdGs Woodcoffee comes to mind, as well as Mugler B*Men and A*Men, although these are not coffee centered, and the latter one may be a bit too much for southern Spain... I would like to have a coffee scent myself for the next winter or so. Sea smell: I guess many people would recommend Creeds Erolfa. Bulgari Aqua may also be nice, but probably not as sea-y as Erolfa. Answer: hey thanks, I'll try to find them, but I unfortunately think they're rare fragances here, I mean, I live in a small-medium city (300.000 inhabitants) but sometimes you go and try to find some stuff like this and the costumer looks at you with that funny look that makes you feel unconfortable, like... "what the hell is this guy asking for???" I tried to find some comme des garçons parfums last month and only found comme des garçons men 2. Maybe I'll have to go to Madrid or Sevilla (bigger cities than mine), because I really prefer to test them before purchasing... Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, I'll look for them... Answer: Try e-Bay or special online stores that are specialised in rare fragrances (www.first-in-fragrance.com, for example). Ava Luxe is a great Nag Champa fragrance, but is heavy on the vanilla in the drydown. Narcisse Noir is a classic masterpiece, but more on the floral side; the incense is more in the background. It's a female fragrance, but like many of the vintage Caron or Guerlain classics, it has its fans among men and is surprisingly wearable (although I wouldn't recommend it for the office ) Incense: I second the CdG suggestion (the Incense series is VERY good), you can also try the new Juozas Statkevicius (available online), if you're looking for a softer, modern incense. Coffee: Bond No 9 new Haarlem or L'Artisan Parfumeur "L'Eau du Navigateur" are intereting coffee scnts, too. Sea : Christiane Celle Calypso "Marine", Profumum "Acqua di Sale" and Crative Universe "Mare" reflect the atmosphere of salty, fresh air breezes at the beach. Answer: Probably not quite what you're looking for, but I found Paco Rabanne to be strongly reminiscent of nag champa in the drydown. Answer: Thanks guys, I'll try to find them. Except for Paco Rabanne, I don't know any of the scents you said nor I remember having seen them here, so you're right, maybe I'll have to buy them online. Nice online store the one you told me Gerald, didn't know it (it's German, right?). Anyway, I finally bought Kouros yesterday. I REALLY like it (specially the drydown... well, ONLY the drydown, top notes are quite annoying) but have to say I can't smell nag champa anywhere in it (not even a "before-burning smell"). Thanks for your help, I'll tell you when/if I test them. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
