That's a great list. My recent acquisitions are: Zizanie Serge Lutens Vetiver Oriental Tabac Blond Eau d'Hermes (got it two months ago) and Floris Vetiver. I'm very happy to have gotten these. I'll smell great but wear old clothes any day. --Chris Answer: I just picked up a 3.3oz EDT spray of Caron Pour Un Homme for $19.99 at Madison Avenue Cosmetics here in Manhattan. *The last time I wore this fragrance would have been in the mid or late 1990's. I will be adding Zianie tomorrow. Answer: Having just purchased a home, I've cut back a bit. Bought Del Mar (for some unkown reason), Z Zegna, Gendarme V, and Aramis Bermuda Tonic. The Del Mar and Zegna were basically free (gift cards from work), but I feel as though I'm designered-out and will be looking forward to a niche for the next purchase. Chris--good to see you picked up Vetiver Oriental. What are your thoughts on it and Floris Vetiver? (I picked up Vetiver Oriental last Christmas, but have yet to sniff Floris Vetiver). Answer: So wedge, do u just rub the garlic on yourself or add it to the virgin olive oil as the midnotes to the tomato topnote and capsicum base? Hey K, i think you may love the Worth PH Haute Concentration even more. I can get it for you if you like. My recent purchases have been: 1. Artisan Navagateur. To bolster my artisinal collection with an 80s creation to match my collection of classics. 2. Goutal Sables. This one's all about sillage and i got it along with the Navagateur. 3. Cassini for Men. I needed something for summer that's not your typical Eau de Fresh derivitives. I've been curious about this one for a long time and when the opportunity came, i snagged it. Not often you find a summer scent with sillage, this one has it in abundance. 4. Burberry Touch. I wanted to review this in my Orientals thread. A lovely musky scent. Rivals my current Helmut Lang EDP in muskiness but loses out in sillage. 5. Adolfo Dominguez Agua de Sandalo. A wonderful sandalwood scent. This one's not about sillage but refined understated elegance. Also, i wanted to feel unique and i don't think this is widely available, it's exclusivity is comparable to a niche. 6. Perry M. A romantic scent that has sillage with hooks. 7. Carven Homme. A leathery tobacco scent that's value for money. 8. Vermeil. This has an abundance of sillage and highly recommended for bold types out there looking for some bling. Could be a player's scent, puts M7 to shame! Very hard to find, makes it even more appealing. My next targets are: 1. Jacomo Paradox or Black Code or Burberry Brit. 2. Rykiel Grey. Answer: My Recent's: M7 - YSL Black Cashmere - Donna Karan Lanvin L'Homme - Lanvin (GREAT for Chicago summers IMO!) A few others on the way! Because I shop every two weeks, my grocery list is longer than Wedge's. *Therefore I will kindly exclude it! *[smiley=laugh.gif] Milamber.... Paradox by Jacomo? *Really? *Get a hold of me, OK!! Answer: Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore D'Orsay Tilleul L'Artisan Extrait de Songe MPG Sior d'Orient MPG Perle Rose Galimard Amber MPG Or Des Indes Answer: Originally Posted by The Bark Chris--good to see you picked up Vetiver Oriental. *What are your thoughts on it and Floris Vetiver? *(I picked up Vetiver Oriental last Christmas, but have yet to sniff Floris Vetiver). * Bark buddy, sorry it has taken me a few hours to reply. I had to go get both bottles and smell them a while in order to know what to say about them. First, the SL Vetiver Oriental is fantastic. I could go signature scent with this baby. There is something very old, very 1980s, very deeply manly about it, and I love it. A sniff of it is like walking into a room with open doors on all four sides, each way you look you see a different passage. Maybe the room should be a hexagon with hallways out in the middle of each wall, you stand in the middle and look a different way with a slight turn of the head. Same with Vetiver Oriental. There are many sides to it in each sniff I take. The scent itself is beautiful, but the creation and the distinction of the elements is so damn precise that it is twice an amazing experience to smell. Rich and heavy, yeah, but wow, with such amazing confinement of the pieces from each other. I think it is called an oriental because the base has significant sandalwood. It really works wonders here from top to base. I love this stuff. Art, and not in the sense that Art is just a man's name. Second, I really like Floris's Vetiver, which I bought from a very kind and helpful basenotes member. The member thought it smelled far too old manish a vetiver, and I see what his point is, but I dunno, I kinda like that. At least it leaves me smelling like a character or something. But seriously, the Floris is tame and smooth like you and I have talked about most Floris products being. English and respectable. Nothing naughty here, buuuuuut, this one is still a bold scent, and bold with vetiver. In that way I think it breaks with Floris tradition. It really reaches out hard, but it doesn't offend or rotten you up. The boldness is a very woody vetiver, close to Molinard's vetiver edc and Etro's Vetiver. In the same heavy wooden vetiver as Cabochard, I think it was, the fine women's scent. No citrus top to it, it feels sunbaked and somehow, brown, of all colors that could come to mind. I really like it and can easily see it under a very fashionable suit, say, with an excellent shirt. It is very friendly and not overpowering with anything although it is bold. How nice that Floris makes a bold scent! It is older style smelling, and I think it has a dose of tobacco in it, but I'm not really good at picking out ingredients. It is closer to the old version of Guerlain's Vetiver than the new one, but it doesn't hold the command that that one did. Also it is very smooth a blend and hard to pick out what all is in there, as is true of the Floris scents I know. (We've both talked about Santal and Santal Extreme before, and I see the smoothness of those mixes present here. Elite is excellent and bold, but it too has a mix that is a true blend.) The scent lasts a long time and as with Floris in general is a damn excellent bargain that no one will scorn. I'm very happy with both purchases. I think I'll need to think over a back up bottle of the SL. Later, my friend! --Chris Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
