Young people/old frags - Page 2
Question:
I'm 18 and I can't stand the aquatic stuff. It's straight up orientals for me. Even though I have a few fresh scents, most of those are fresh in the fougere, chypre, citrus sense and not the aquatic. It's not that aquatic fragrances are offensive (well, most of them aren't at least), it's just that they are so bland and uninteresting that they aren't worth my time. Answer: Wear whatever you want, girls will like that. It tells them that you don't have to be like every other guy to be cool. In fact, you're even cooler for picking what you like, not what everyone else likes. Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree could be classified as an old man scent, but I've gotten so many girls to say "Oh, wow... you smell..." DEEP BREATH "Hmmmmmm" it doesn't matter. - Rich Answer: By old frag it sounds like you mean anything that isn't new, or at least that doesn't have the commercialized vibe that most designer scents from the last 5-10 years have had. I'm a college student and I go for orientals and woody scents. Most of the ones I like are new in that they were concieved somewhat recently, but they are also mostly niche so they don't have a commecialized vibe to them. They are simply a lot more enjoyable to me than aquatic scents which came and went in my life rather quickly. Answer: My bad, I didn't read the original post. Polo. - Rich Answer: I definitely feel this post. I too am on the top part of this age range (just turned 32) and do not like the "younger-smelling" scents at all. I tend to gravitate toward more "classic" and "mature" scents, but also find that there are some that I am too young for. For instance, I recently purchased a bottle of Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme. Honestly, I cannot think of any situation when I would wear that. It is clearly very nicely made, but does not wear well on me. Perhaps in about 10 years or so. Another would be Anateus. After hearing rave reviews, I found a bottle and...I am way too young for that one. A power that is beyond my years. I guess for me I am in some sort of transition stage, where I feel too old for "young" scents, but not "aged" enough to fully appreciate many older scents. (I wanna rock Anateus, but feel like I would be wearing my father's clothes.) Right now, I am wearing Kouros, Bel Ami, and Jaipur. I guess they are kinda almost there. Answer: Originally Posted by Nicolas V Another would be Anateus. After hearing rave reviews, I found a bottle and...I am way too young for that one. A power that is beyond my years. Nonsense. You have the power young paddiwon. Only you can decide when to unleash that power. My vote goes for tomorrow. Unleash it tomorrow. Seriously, I dare you. Tell you what, I'll wear Anteus tomorrow if you do. I'm nineteen, so you've definitely got an advantage on age, but we'll see who gets the most compliments. - Rich Answer: I could say something like that about myself. For example, Kouros is my favourite scent. I also like Heritage, Habit Rouge, Antaeus and Eau Sauvage a lot! There're also lots of old chypres that I like: Armani pour Homme, Escada Pour Homme and so on. As far as I know, chypres are out of fashion these days. Answer: I think that the light/aquatic thing is not entirely true. I use a number of heavy orientals and wood based scents. I think that those fresh scents are just a little more popular among the younger crowd because the girls like smelling them on us. I wear what I want though. In terms of "old" scents that I like, I can't really say. I guess Bois du Porugal would be considered "old" because it is spicey and manly. Santal Imperial? I don't know if these are old but they smell fine to me. I know a number of great new scents that are not fresh, light, aquatics, BTW. Answer: Rich, sounds like a good idea. Just one problem: I don't own Anateus. I smelled it at a boutique. But, perhaps I will pick it up. Your pep talk was very inspiring. I believe! Thanks. I'll let you know when I get it, and then...the heat is ON! Answer: Well, I claimed it as my SOTD, so I'm going to wear it, but let me know when you get a sample, we'll test drive it together. - Rich Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
