Young people/old frags
Question:
How many young people, let's say between 18-30 years of age are tired of light and aquatic.Since almost every new designer release is in this category I wonder how many of you like older scents and when you do which ones do you prefer?

Answer:
Not me. If a fragrance smells good, I enjoy it whether it's light and aquatic or not.
Crazy, I know.

Answer:
I'm 25, apart from the Kenzo PH, Farenheit Summer and Kouros Sport, there is hardly any new/fresh/aquatic etc that I would consider wearing. My drobe mainly consists of half niche ( Lutens, L'artisans) and half old school scents right now. My picks would be PM Concentree, Antaeus, Egoiste, Van Cleef & arpels PH, Kouros, Opium PH, Dunhill Edition, Yatagan and Heritage. Salvadore Dali PH is another nice one, not exactly about maturity but it is a very dark smokey scent in the 80s style, I call it the ultimate heavy metal fragrance, havn't smelled c & z no.88 though.
The reason for this is that I would at least be able to smell what I'm wearing, and with most modern frags this is often impossible. Yesterday I tested RL Romance silver for men for the first time, and I tell you, I literally couldn't smell anything from start to dry down on the test strip.

Answer:
In my case, I try to balance my collection. Light/fresh/aquatics and classic 80s ones. One year and half ago, 85% of my collection was based on classic old style fragrances. Then I realized I needed more versatile (and less rich) scents to casual wearing. Now, My collection is almost 50-50.

Answer:
My husband wears that classic Art Deco era fragrance, Caron Pour un Homme. He's only 33, but it suits him perfectly, AND he doesn't smell like every other guy in his office.

Answer:
I'm on the top end of your range, there (32), but I still see myself in the 'Youg People' demographic. Though I'm starting to take note of the generational shift, lol. Another ten years and I'll be issuing Greg Behrendt-esque rants.
I'm partial to the more 'classic' scents. I'm just slowly beginning my collection; Current favored occupants are Quorum and Trussardi Uomo. Probably going to hook myself up a Bois du Portugal for a graduation gift (From me to me, heh) once I sit for my license (RRT).
Unfortunately, being a respiratory therapist doesn't quite allow me to go around work wearing Quorum -- I could see it causing some casualties.

Answer:
Yes I am rather sick of smelling a new fragrance and thinking "Huh - smells no different than any of the other crap on this counter" Its ridiculous.
I want more chypres! I want more green fragrances that aren't laden down with citrus! Its not too much to ask, is it?

My recommendation would be to shop more online and less in dept stores. These frags are everywhere.

Answer:
I rarely go into dept stores anymore. But in the event I am walking through a fragrance dept., I can't help but stop. And then starts the whole nightmare experience with SAs shoving things you dont want to smell in your face, them asking what scents you wear and you say "Amouage Dia" only to have them recommend "Paris Hilton for Men"

Answer:
I'm 29, and I'm not too keen on all this aquatic, light stuff either... Have a bottle of Hugo and Kenzo pour Homme that alternates in my gym-bag since I find them a bit refreshing after workout (and I think that's probably the only way I'll ever use up those bottles...)
One aquatic I (think) I like (it varies... :-) is Issey Miyake Blue... But can that really be classified as an aquatic? I can't really figure out what's going on with that one! :-)
No I'm much keener on more "adult" frags. Lagerfeld Classic, Baldessarini, Habit Rouge, Tabac Original, Creed Vetiver (vintage) to mention some...
