Question:
Forgive my ignorance if this is a simple one?
Is Egoiste still in production and if so how come Chanel do not advertise the fact on their website. They do have links with Platinum Egoiste but not the original.
The high street sellers I have been to recently seem bemused when I ask whether they stock Egoiste?
After Egoiste picked up the top award, I thought I'd try the scent but cannot find it anywhere in the UK stores???

Egoiste is still available but mainly in Chanel boutiques. Other places that I've seen the odd bottle of Egoiste (in London, that is) are mostly chemists. The odd Superdrug branch still stocks them but you may have to visit many branches before finding one.
If you still can't find one, try Paris - all the fragrance stores still stock it in large quantities.

Just checked main Chanel website. Not listed on UK version and it seems its not available in UK for some reason.
Never mind, it's listed for Spain and I'll be there on Friday. Next buy sorted then.

All the Anglophone countries do not carry Egoiste for some reason.....it seems antithetical to the stereotype concept of what they like and the sales reflected that so they pulled it. They left only the Egoiste Platinum version which is "cleaner" and in fact bears no similarity to the original one (which begs the question why they baptised it thus, but I digress...)
Egoiste is readily available here (southern Europe) and it is in fact selling rather well. Lots of people like it.
So if you take a trip to Europe (anywhere except the UK), search for it in standard department stores or Sephora or ask a friend in Europe to get it for you. Real easy ;-)

It's a mystery why they discontinued it in the UK. You'd have to assume poor sales were the reason, which seems odd as it's their best men's fragrance (to my mind at least).

The spanish airports I fly to, do not have the frags and fags shops anymore.
I see many people looking to pick up fags before their flight home and are disappointed to find they are limited to how many packets they can get from the vending machine!

Crikey! didn't know that. I've only used Malaga and Barcelona, and both had decently stocked duty free shops in the last year or so.
