Un Lys unavailable to buy in UK
Question:
Hello everyone I'm new to basenotes although i've been lurking for a few days. I've been told by Les Senteurs that Un Lys is no longer available in the Uk that I would need to purchase it from France. However I have seen it on a well known British online store who would supply if i order it over the phone. Does anyone know whether i would be getting a genuine product from the online store? oops looks like i posted this twice Answer: Originally Posted by mochachoc Hello everyone I'm new to basenotes although i've been lurking for a few days. You say it is well known, but do they also have a good reputation? As far as I know Un Lys was the first from the Lutens Exclusive Range to be chosen for Limited Export Edition. It is very well possible that the online store bought a huge supply while Les Senteurs is now sold out. Answer: Originally Posted by Riannon Which online store is it? However, I could always order directly from their site. Did some maths; ordering in France: a beautiful bell jar with 75 ml.for € 115.00 (this is including shipping) and you can order through their website. Ordering at Escentual: a 50 ml. flacon with separate spray for GBP 50.00 (= € 73,46). Ordering through their website and becoming a member would give you the benefit of free shipping. Looking at the costs per ml., a bell jar is only €5.00 more expensive than the spray bottle. Phew, it shows that I have been busy with my taxforms the whole day through Answer: I have always been surprised at how long Un Lys was available in the export line. As has been said it was limited edition release for the export line. It seemed to be around for a long time compared to the others which have been released limited edition. Answer: Thanks for your thoughts everyone. i ordered from escentual via phone. they made it clear un lys is not available via website due to an EU law (he didn't say and i didnt ask). I think they simply had more stock. When they run out maybe that will be that. Answer: Interesting - last time I looked Escentual had stopped selling Serge Lutens. Now they have them listed again. I noticed the last couple of times I was In Harrods that they have started stocking Vetiver Oriental again, despite it having been absent from the line up since it went back to being an exclusive a couple of years ago. I wonder whether these two might end up permanently part of the export line... Answer: Originally Posted by Nutmeg Interesting - last time I looked Escentual had stopped selling Serge Lutens. I wonder whether these two might end up permanently part of the export line... Most remarkable. I would applaud the return of Vetiver Oriental but referring to Donna's remark about the extremely long availability of Un Lys...I always suspected that was caused by the fact that, in my opinion of course, it is one of the Lutens scents that reminded me of other and easy available fragrances. Beautiful as it me may be, not many people are willing to fork out the money for a Lutens scent when they have alternatives that are in the same olfactory line, so to speak. Answer: This is so beautiful and relatively easy to "get" that it was a bestseller and I think they knew it, hence they produced lots of limited bottles. Personally, I'd order from Les Salons directly; but if you're in the UK, good decision to take the advantage of free shipping. Escentual is a very reliable site, to be sure.
