layering question...
Question:
Maybe some of the more creative basnoters could give me some suggestions..
I just procured a bottle of Kiehl's musk and though I don't dislike it, I find it a tad on the bland side. Based on my wardrobe, can anyone suggest something that might be a good layering fragrance with the musk? I have considered Lomani Ignition..but I worry about it becoming too sweet and overly feminine smelling. Would something dry and woodsy work?
Any suggestions appreciated.
PS. I'm also finding my Gucci PH rather dry as of late.. anything you'd layer it with to kickstart my interest in it? I used to love it..but I just find it dry dry dry.. <which used to be the appeal>
Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Anthony- why not try the Gucci with the Kiehl's? You have nothing to lose. Lomani Ignition is a very sweet frag that would overpower almost any other.

If ever there were a question tailor-made for Moondeva's expertise, this is it!
My own very amatuerish suggestion would be Michael Kors.

Stu...
I mixed the Gucci and Kiehl's... initially it smelled a little like Montale's Greyland.. after five minutes it smells like Mkk's unhygenic brother. Wow, I've got to wear this stuff out! Nyah.... there is "actually" a cat urine hint to this... and I've never noticed one in a frag before.

Ah, If I only had Michael Kors. Good suggestion though! I'm wondering what M7 might smell like musked up. If you all don't hear from me after this evening..you'll know why

Answer:
I don't layer much and Kiehl's has never done a lot for me but it has its positive attributes. Within your wardrobe I'd layer it with Antaeus (seems appropriate), Dior Homme (could be very intriguing), M7 (to enhance/blend with the already prominent musky drydown) or Terre d'Hermès - it has no musk so adding some might be interesting. It was intended to smell like bodies after lovemaking so the musk could just enhance that.

Answer:
What about Bowling Green (from your wardrobe)..?

Answer:
Bowling Green and musk: nice.. makes the harsh citrus a little more velvety..although the tang seems to mask the musk (I'd have to add more)
M7 and Musk: Wow, a skanky M7. This sexy fragrance just got sexier. Quite impressed with these results
Antaeus and Musk: Quite nice as well, actually.. the musk seems to bring out the honey note quicker..and makes it more pronounced.. almost Serge Lutens like...
Maybe this Kiehls will be better for me than I had originally thought
Thanks for the sugs. folks.

But the combo of M7 and Kiehl's has me intrigued now!!! This sounds like something right up my alley!!!

Answer:
Try layering the Musk and Dior Homme.

Answer:
I find Heritage has a faint muskiness which may be augmented by the Kiehl's.
I'd put a sweet one like Chergui with Gucci PH dryness. (I personally love Chergui with Vintage Tabarome, another very dry frag)
