Bel Ami and Terre de Hermes
Question:
Yesterday I wore Bel Ami as my SOTD, reapplied around 6pm and went out for the evening. Over the course of the day the scent progressed nicely through several stages of wood, leather, and citrus which was terrific. By the time I got up in the morning I would catch a whiff every so often of something that smelled like Terre de Hermes within the Bel Ami. After reading quite a few reviews that essentially stated that Hermes didn't follow their tradition when making Terre de Hermes I wonder is my nose playing tricks on me or did they follow tradition more than some people realize? Answer: I own and enjoy both. When I was testing them from decants along with many other scents I wasn't sure what the difference was. My nose became accustomed to both and I greatly prefer the TDH over Bel Ami. I consider Bel Ami to be a fragrance of the first rank but TDH is something special in a class of it's own. Answer: Bel Ami has been getting lots of 'ink' here at BN recently - I can remember wearing this in high school and to be honest I forgot what it smells like on me. Must re-try! Answer: I used to have problems with Terre de Hermes but now I can see things much more clearly. Before TDH was too close to Un Jardin sur le Nil which I already own, then I found it to be much too 'weedy', but for some reason, recently it smells completely different from Un Jardin sur le Nil and the weed smell is gone. Its funny how things change. Originally Posted by fredricktoo I own and enjoy both. When I was testing them from decants along with many other scents I wasn't sure what the difference was. I own TdH!" TdH also LASTS on me, a rare thing for a citrus. I have a large bottle of TdH, and will be wearing it often during the summer. Paul Answer: I believe both of them will get getting significant play this summer, that is once I get my bottle of TdH. Originally Posted by Scentsibility I agree completely with this.
