I ended up buying an old dressform for $50 off ebay which helps so much - you're absolutely right too, fit is so important!! I am very guilty of giving up after something doesn't fit too but I'm learning slowly Yay! this thread is great! hehe this probably sounds stupid, but whats a dressform? im a newbie sewer Answer: A dummy that you can adjust to your size, it has a bunch of dials on it - also called a dressmakers dummy. You still have to put a bra on them and pad them if you're over a B cup! All patterns, retail clothes AND dressforms are drafted at a B cup...it's a very annoying standard Answer: Oooh also, the two patterns I'm currently lemming (remember to ignore their horrid fabrics!) http://www.1sewingpatterns.com/images5/4693bsim.jpg (for the coat not the dress!) http://www.1sewingpatterns.com/images5/6443bnl.jpg Hellooooo nightie ala dress pattern! Answer: very nice Miss-G- I have a vintage mannequin and its invaluable! I'm lemming that one too, great minds huh? Answer: They really do! I wish they'd hurry up and release it here...winter coats here I come! Also I was thinking of buying vintage buckles from ebay and using those in place of the ribbon, there's some gorgeous ones on there. There's also a review on patternreview.com for it and it says the fit is excellent Answer: Here's my pick: http://store.sewingtoday.com/cat/200..._img/V2850.jpg The main one, I loves it It won't be out here until next Spring I think? I guess I could buy it online... Answer: Ooh loving the thread SO heres a question is is necessary to match lines of tweed material?....ive got the idea to make a pencil skirt. Are there any tips to making one? haha yer those dress makers dummys are cool....except mine is still too big at its smallest adjustment and it scares me alot when i walk past my room thinking its someone standing in the corner Answer: I've had my eye on that one too!! Its gorgeous...so much nice stuff coming up!! It should be out before Spring, we're a season behind the US but they generally bring out next season before it starts so the new book might actually come in after the Spotlight sale (hence them getting rid of all their current stock). I'm also after this but not sure about the sleeves, I think I'd just leave them out.
