The Vogue Sewing Thread! - Page 5
Question:
This is great idea for a thread Miss G! Originally Posted by Vijitha There should be a permanent Vogue Sewing Thread - it would be mighty inspirational. I agree! There's also been heaps of threads on printing on tees and jewellery making, so altogether that could be a nice new little heading with a few different forums! And it's totally related to Vogue, right? Fashion - just better cos it's made by Voguettes themselves! lol Answer: hey! i'm going to make a little "collection" for my school's fashion parade and my teacher asked me to make my first sample a standard size 8. Does anyone know the measurements for these??? oh and can anyone recommend a easy to use overlocker? god how i hate threading those things... Answer: Oh I remember all the times ive had to thread those overlockers at TAFE. Grrrr! Sometimes when no one was in the room id just change machines Theres too many holes! Answer: ok i am totally sewing illiterate.. the first time i unpicked stiches was last week! But i really want to knit my own scarf... i like chunky knit, like this http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorab...idproduct=4486 i'll def stick to only one colour... but i honestly have no idea how to get started? or what to buy in terms of material, like do i buy wool? and then are then any webpages or something out there to show me how to start? any help would be appreciated!! thanks Answer: oooh cool thread i've just decided to get into sewing, i'm hopeless but just bought a mini sewing machine i just posted in the clothes forum and asked if anyone knew of a pattern for a five way top?? i've googled and haven't come up with anything... i'm thinking it could be one of the more simple things... or maybe i'm naive?? me the novice sewer... Answer: chaddy, there should be some tutorials on how to knit at your local book store or library. I love that mimco scarf, it looks heaps complicated. I suggest you play around with acrylic first off and try all the needle sizes. You could always go into Spotlight or Lincraft and ask someone for advice. Im not sure of any webpages that teaches you how to knit, but im sure there would be, google it. I have no patience for knitting, im halfway through a scarf that I started last year Goodluck and show us when you make it! Answer: anyone know the measurements of a standard size 8??? Answer: wow. that knitted scarf is nuts. i might give it a try. i'm hoping you can read a pattern here (i'm also assuming you can knit a little). i guess it'd go something like: row one: cast on one stitch, r2: increase 1. r3: increase 1. etc until you reach the width you want your scarf to be when you hold the knit on the right angle. then increase one at the beginning and decrease 1 at the end of each row, until you want to cast off, then cast off 1 stitch per row until you get to the end! i hope that makes some kind of sense... the long, loose stitchy bits between stripe i don't think were knitted, but i'm not sure... if you can't knit, try and go to a class. i always found books really difficult until i'd mastered the basics. Answer: ooooo! sorry to double-post, but i just found this vogue pattern. http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin...I=20003&page=1 i'd love to make it, (well, not the floral chiffon capey thing. the one in the upper right corner) but i'm not a very experienced sewer. can someone tell me how difficult it's likely to be? bearing in mind it is lined.. and calls for something called 'fusible interfacing' Answer: Originally Posted by angry baby anyone know the measurements of a standard size 8???
