I dont see why we can't have a permanent forum - surely the Vogue Pattern company and the magazine are in some way affiliated? Vogue patterns used to be in Vogue magazine I'm sure!

i'd love to make it, (well, not the floral chiffon capey thing. the one in the upper right corner) but i'm not a very experienced sewer. can someone tell me how difficult it's likely to be? bearing in mind it is lined.. and calls for something called 'fusible interfacing'
Ooh, great pattern. It's difficult to to tell how hard it is just from the picture, but it should be reasonably straight forward. The only thing is that Vogue patterns often leave out some obvious steps in the instructions, so you might need to have someone on hand who sews so you can ask questions.
It's lined, so you don't need to worry about making the seams neat - they'll be covered. I'd give it a go on some cheap material first though if you're not sure.
Fusible interfacing is iron-on interfacing - it is a gauzy material that you iron to the back of the trim to give it some structure. Ask the SAs in a fabric store to match the right type of interfacing to your fabric though - you should use a very light interfacing for satin, because it can pucker.

Nice choice Nic, from memory it has great reviews on patternreview! EOS (www.emmaonesock.com) has black silk jersey a the moment but it's US$40, and www.candlightvalleyfabrics.com also has some printed silk jersey for US$18 a yard (remember yards are a bit smaller than metres).

I'm in Melbourne and I like Rathdowne Remnants in Carlton (I think or thereabouts), and Clegs has beautiful fabric too but is expensive. And if you're really rich and want atelier Versace fabric try Bloom, it's next to Rathdown Remants but be prepared to pay around $600 a metre and upward!

Thanks Miss-G!!
I couldn't spot the black silk jersey on Emmaonesock though
I might order some from overseas, but i was hoping to make a dress this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative, easily available (in Melby!) fabric that would suit the dress? I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to fabric choices
