The Petite Girl Thread
Question:
If there's a Plus Size Girl Thread then why shouldn't we petite girls have our own forum. Being petite can be tough... It's hard to find clothes that fit right... A lot of brands do make size 6s but they still don't fit! Very few brands do size 4... besides international designers (size 00)... I often find myself shopping in children's stores
Where do you petite girls shop?? What clothing issues do you have with being petite? Discuss!

Answer:
I am not as petite as I used to be cos I got hips a few years back, but swimmers were a nightmare for me!!! In the end I bought a pair of kids swimmers from City Beach.
The bum in swimmers ladies was always too big and you'd have to hike them up and I hated that. Back at that stage size 6 was rare. I still have them but don't know if they fit.
I am lucky now because I managed to fit into the smallest sizing in most stores/brands, but there are still some things that are too big, especially Sportsgirl (damn you *shakes fist*) which is known on here to have big sizing.
That being said, I tried a FCUK tee on last night in xs and it was a bit tight (read high neck, short and tight) I didn't try anything else, thats my first try on of their clothing. A friend who is a bit smaller than me in the ribs got a singlet in size small rather than xs, so it seems their sizing is small there.

I am having problems finding corporate clothing that fits. I ended up asking Cue the other day if they are making their sizing larger and the SA said yes, because they only go up to a size 14.....
I generally buy my work clothes from Cue and Veronika Maine but have to alter a lot of items - I've learnt to do it myself which is good - and generally always wear a belt.

The kids section at Savers and other op-shops is awesome..

I'm petite too (between a size 4-6) and only 151cms tall so I have a problem with height as well I'm currently living in England and contrary to popular belief I have been having heaps of trouble finding my size. A lot of the Size XS or 6 are on the big side (a bit like the Country Road sizes in Aus.) I too am a huge fan of Children's stores and the most embarassing thing of all is that often I'm not even the biggest kids size.
The problem is that I am a teacher here and I can't exactly turn up to school wearing things I've bought from the kids department. The kids at school would eat me alive.

i am 157 cm tall and before i found bettina liano's, finding jeans that would fit was the biggest nightmare. NOw i know what size of jeans to find and it's the biggest sigh of relief ever!!

Answer:
it does suck sometimes, but it has some advantages, like buying good quality basic tops from the kids dept and much lower prices

Answer:

The other day i saw a size 4 in ally!

Answer:
i wish cue made their sizes smaller too. when i tried on a 6 a while ago and it was too small and asked if they had a smaller size the lady said 'no, your too tiny' as though i had a choice in the matter. i didn't go in there for months after that. i find only their tops fit me there.
starlet and some other brands sold at surf shops makes small sizes.
the just jeans kids section has a few things u could get away with.
kookai tends to be ok.
i have a pair of s 6 pants from portmans that fit (although i bought them a while ago)

Answer:
I've only just developed hips and a butt and everything at age 20 so it's easier for me now, but I remember the frustration of not being able to wear heaps of different clothes just because they didn't stock them in my size. All the clothes at Target were too big. Valleygirl and Supre stock XS and XXS but that's only helpful if you like their look. I found clothes in a size 6 at Myer, though. It took me ages to find fitted jeans!!!! I only wore them a few times though until I began to put on weight, now I can't get them over my thighs, and that's a good feeling! I know how you feel though, it's still common for me to find a nice dress or top or whatever and not be able to buy it because the size 8 is too big (seriously, some stores size 8 is more like a size 10, I've mainly found this to be the case in Target).
