The Petite Girl Thread - Page 3
Question:
I'm not petite, but thought I would also comment on cue sizing. I would see why petite girls would have problems shopping there, because I have been buying size 6 pants/skirts there, but I am really about a size 8/9 everywhere else. Its silly...their clothes seem to get bigger every season

Answer:
Oh thank GOD!! It's so great to hear you girls!! I'm 5 foot 6 and a size 6 if I'm lucky. I'm still wearing clothes from when I was 14. It's hard to find things to fit that make you look your age!
Everyone always says to me, you don't know how lucky you are. I tell them how hard it is to find clothes to fit me, they don't believe me!

Answer:
I'm a size 6 and often have trouble finding tops. I find the best brands that suit me are see by chloe, marc by marc jacobs, alice mccall (though this depends on the style as some seem to swamp me), ralph lauren (really good for business shirts), karen walker and marcs. Or I just buy then alter.

Answer:
Cue have a few good things in stock at the moment - a cotton sleeveless A-line dress with a belt which comes in brown, a clay colour and vanilla although the bust was still quite big. I also tried on one shirt which fit like a glove - it was a pale grey colour with a brown design.
BONDS singlets, surf and skate brands tend to be a smaller cut. I find Levi skinny jeans are great although I still have to get the leg altered. Does anyone know any good trousers - I'm finding them all big in the front (!?!).

My friends and acquaintances comment that I manage to look my age, if not older, by dressing more sophisticatedly. A lot of my corporate wardrobe consists of tailored pants and skirts in greys and browns (my trick is to op shop! They seemed to have smaller sizes back in the days!) Pleated skirts are my best friends, they give me more volume down there (where a bum is unfortunately lacking), so are shift dresses and pintucked dresses worn with belts. Heels are never too high, because I think that makes me look disproportionate.
Obviously I frequent my tailor and op shops, but I also find the sizing at Review, Kookai, Cue, Satch to be sufficient. Country Road is my favourite place for shrunken cardigans! For jeans, I swear by Wranglers - I've long outgrown bootleg styles and now prefer the straightlegged classic look. No skinnies!
I've got a few items from international labels too, they seem to be on the smaller side - Tsumori Chisato, Vanessa Bruno. Maticevski and Akira's smallest size would also be good for a petite size 6.
It's also nice to have a sewing machine at home so I can do a lot of my own alterations or even make my own clothes. I hardly ever shop nowadays!
oh vanessa bruno is PERFECT for teeny girls. Size 1 (or 36) is really adaptable to a size 6-8. And in some of her lines she even does a 0 (but it will be labelled as a 34, hard to get though). My whole wardrobe is Vanessa Bruno, See by Chloe, Chloe and MJ (from when i lived in Asia). They have the best sizes and cuts for petite girls.

I love my Bettina Liano jeans! Just because they fit me so well and the length is perrrrfect!
I'm trying to find jeans that are of similar cut.
I'm going to try out J Brand Jeans next.
Also 18th Amendment had a great style of jean that was a perfect length for me...but I forgot the style name.

Answer:
I pretty much live at my alterationists house. I go around 4 times a week to drop things off and pick stuff up.
I'm 5'2 (160cm) and a size 4-6 (more like a size 4) and I'll be 25 in April. I get EVERYTHING alterated. Bras included. I don't think I've ever bought anything and been able to wear it straight away. Nothing fits except kids clothes and thats usually a size 10 so I get embarrassed. I often tell SA that I'm buying clothes for my little sister (my little sister is 18, 170cm tall with a killer size 10 body, amazing, so jealous). I always get told I look like a little doll. It doesn't help that I look 15.
I buy all my corporate clothes from CUE and VM. I go in and ball my eyes out. SA have actually laughed at me when I try things on. But before I do they tell me how lucky I am to have my body, then when they see me in their clothes they tilt their heads and look at me with sad eyes. I hate it.
I have so many pairs of S&B jeans, Misfits, size 24 and they are too big. I'm constantly hiking them up.
Oh and re: bikinis, the only one (out of 12) that actually fits me is a size 6 Nookie one I bought in Noosa last March. The male SA pissed himself laughing when I ran out of the change room and hugged my bestfriend crying that I don't have "nappy bum". And yes I even get my bikini bottoms altered. I always buy triangle tie ups so I can make them as tight as I need to but bottoms are a problem.

Answer:
i'm really irregular grr.. I'm about 4'11" and a size 6 waist and shirt size is about a 6/8. Jeans are so hard because my waist is pretty small but my thighs tell a different story. Miss Shop skirt sizes are onthe big size too. i tried on a size 6 skirt recently and there was HEAPS of space left around the waist. Belts also suck too when your waist is rather small.

Answer:
Today I was in Ally at Indooroopilly trying on a black cardie for work (and woot, it fit!) and they had a sign up in the change room saying they were introducing size 4s in certain items of their stock. I didn't have time to have much of a look around to find any though. I asked the SA and she said in their line 4 = XXS.

Answer:
i'm not as small as some of you size 4 girls, i'm more of a small 6 and 160cm.
i have trouble fitting into a lot of brands too. with summer, i've taken to wearing dresses that fit ok and wearing a belt around the waist, as this has really helped to bring dresses in to fit smaller.
