The Petite Girl Thread - Page 6
Question:
Im only 5'0" and a size 10. So everything i buy is way too long and/or doesn't fit around my bust. I really hate shopping.

I literally got the short end of the stick because my 3 sisters are all 5'6" and over and can share clothes AND shoes. How depressing.

I have the same problem- I am really small but have a tiny waist so my hips and legs look bigger than they are. I generally get the size 10s or 8s given to me even though they are always too big. Most SAs look at me as though I am telling fibs when I ask for something smaller.
For example... in cr the other day (actually it was months ago) and had a skirt on in a 4. The SA told me that it really needed to be a bit smaller and that she would go look for a 6 (thinking it was an . She kind of balked when I said it was a 4. Anyway it shouldn't even be labelled as a 4.
I just have a really small waist. It's kind of weird really. A lot of jeans don't fit me because they are too small around the legs and too big around the waist. I can't wear sass and bide. I go for bettina liano mainly as the jeans are stretchy. I'm sure there are worse problems in life than having a small waist though so I shouldn't complain.

Answer:
I am not as tiny as some of you girls height wise i'm quite tall (about 172cm) but i'm also a size 6 and have had similar issues with clothing Luckily i'm only a B cup and have broad shoulders so most tops are fine but almost all tailored pants are too big for me!
This is why i've largely swapped to just getting designers I know do true to size 6's now (ie. alice mccall, sass & bide, camilla & marc, shakuhachi etc) As at least I know they'll fit, although I have had some problems lately with Zimmermann etc being big makes... chain store brands like sportsgirl etc are just a nightmare, their xs is definately bigger than a size 6... for work pants i've found review to be good and cue. I have the opposite problem to you with jeans petiteprincess Mine are usually too tight around the waist and too loose around the legs (I have tiny calves...)

I have a about 13 things for her this week. Can't wait to see her tonight.
I went to the doctors yesterday and ended up in tears. Instead of putting on a few kilos which I have been trying like hell to do I've lost 2kgs and on my tiny frame 2kgs is a big deal. I now weigh 42kgs and I'm 160cm so I'm going off to cry and eat the rest of my Godiva chocolate bars. i hear you Lulu, im 166 and 45 kgs. I have just bought all these lovely new clothes from cue, and im trying to set aside the money to get them altered.... i only ever buy there when they are on sale because otherwise they cost a REDICULOUS amount.
i vowed just yesterday that i am going to learn how to alter my own clothes so that i dont have to wait to wear them or spend any extra money!
i this thread!

Sw4y I went to my alterationist (Nina - she's like a mother to me) last night and I gave her 22 pieces of clothing. I always tell her I wish I knew how to sew but she's just laughs at me. I don't even try on half the stuff because she knows my body so well.
You guys should all find a regular alterationist. Nina will probably charge me around $250-$300 for all that stuff. I have them taken in and taken up everywhere. She even redesigns stuff for me but because I have given her so much business of the years she doesn't charge me as much. She went away for a few days once and I needed a shirt altered ASAP. I took it to an alteration store and they wanted to charge me $35 to take it in. I flipped it and left.

I'm about a size 7 - weigh 50kg and am 164cm tall....
I have most problems finding knee length skirts and 3/4 pants to fit cos my legs are short and they always make everything SO long!
Not to mention I have broad hips but a skinny waist and legs so I have to get a larger size to fit on the hips but then its too big everywhere else.
I liked Cue but they're too big. Size 6 Sportsgirl is massive, CR I dont even bother....S&B, 24 is too small on my hips and 25 is too big on my waist.
The best fitting jeans I own are my Bardot Rio thin legs. Perfect length and great around the hips.
I love my Nobody's but they're too long and a quite big around the waist, but they're perfect around my bum....Does anyone know if they come smaller than an 8?
As for tops - I've not found a shirt that fits properly - they gape at the back. I'm pretty average up top, 10B/C boobies
Oh and I find Kookai fit okay but its way too expensive for what it is.

Wow, where did you find someone like that?
I would love to know a good alterationist. I have had a few things altered in the past year (not because I'm petite ... don't know what I'm doing in this thread actually as I'm a size 12! I guess it's interesting) and there are loads more things I'd love to get altered but it's always so expensive that I keep putting it off.

i need a ton of jeans shorten

Answer:
I tried on some of the new things in Sportsgirl and they are HUGE - the little dresses with birds on the front. I really like them but the neckline almost goes down to my waist. I'm glad this winter's fashion also includes short dresses as they will look like normal length dresses - I might just have to take the straps up......

Answer:
I often need to take straps up.
I wore a new dress, it's a white sundress with broderie anglaise straps and it needs to be sewn in a little. My mum said she'd do it for me.
