I'm very short and petite and I bought myself a Ben Sherman double breasted trench coat in XS.
It looks a tiny bit big around the shoulders at the front when I'm not wearing thicker layers of clothing underneath. However, it's the only trench coat that I've found to have a decent fit on me and I'm very happy with it.

Things like this drive me nuts as a woman, I am an engineer and objective numbers (the scales/tape measure), should be the only judge.
I'm not petite but I find this annoying and patronising as well! I know I'm a size 12 and I'm not stupid enough to be thrilled when a brand makes their sizes enormous so I get to wear a size 10. I just find it irritating when I take the wrong size into the change room or buy the wrong size on eBay.

Unfortunately I don't know anywhere in OZ that does small jackets... they're all too broad in the shoulders for me too. Maybe the others will be more helpfull Not sure where to find a trench coat - but Oxford jackets are the only thing I've found that fits me across the shoulders (size 6, which is the smallest they make)

Answer:
I just had a look on the Oxford website ... why does every Melbourne store only stock the mens collection?? Does anyone know if the womens wear is available in Melbourne?

Answer:
I am five feet one,but I am the opposite of pear shaped, skinny legs(AUD6) with a heavier top(muscular arms ) ..so I am always conscious of my arms ..envy girls with skinny arms

Maybe try small mens sizes? Like XS. There are a few around worth slipping into, might even pick up something no one else has.

Yes, petite girls can definitely pull off trenchcoats! I have a gorgeous chocolate Morrissey one that I picked up in Melbourne a few years ago now - I'm, in my mind, a true size 6 but of course that can mean anything from 4-8 across stores, soooo frustrating!
As far as where to find one now.... hmmm, not too sure sorry hon. But definitely invest in a trench, most versatile coat in my wardrobe!

Answer:
Can I be a tall petite?
I'm 5'10", but only 54kg. And no I'm not anorexic, I have meat, I just have a boyish figure with a very small bust (and skinny bones ), so I am healthy for my size
Anyway, I have extreme difficulty finding pants for my never ending stick legs I used to wear boys pants when I was younger because of my lack (and still) of hips.
All pants are either far too wide in the hips because I have nonexistent hips, or the fabric on the rear end caters for a more fuller butt. Or, the thighs are too wide and look ridiculous because of gaping fabric. Orrrr the biggest problem, they're just too damn short (I even have a pair of proper length pants which I wear as capri pants Seriously ).
My fave pair of jeans are actually Sportsgirl jeans, because they're long enough with still having a small waist and hips!
As for tops, I don't have as big a problem because I don't like skin tight clothing anyway. However, cross over tops and wrap tops look a bit silly because my bust don't fill out enough hehe.
Jackets I have to go up in size, simply because my long arms and shoulders need room to move I hate being "trapped" in my clothing, so I have to up a size to cater my lanky limbs so they can move around freely without feeling like I'm in a straight jacket
If I find the perfect pants, I swear I'll buy 10 of them
