Answer: Well a "rainy" day didn't really convey the happiness that day will bring Answer: Congratulations to all the voguette-mums-to-be ! When I was pregnant I had a maternity skirt (not sure what brand) that I got from Myers. Basically it was just a black stretchy pencil skirt and it was fantastic. I bought 2. It was really comfy and looked great for work with a button-up shirt or casual with a tshirt. Because it was stretchy and kept its shape I could wear it post-birth without looking too maternity-like. Unfortunately, by the end my belly was so big (10 pound baby inside) I couldn't fit into most of the maternity clothes. Congrats to you all and I hope you all have happy, healthy, bubbly tots! Answer: I'm 15 weeks along and certainly none of my 'corporate' clothes clothes fit in a flattering way anymore. Because I still have to wear formal outfits for work, I've found that if I wear a really long singlet over my work pants, you can't tell that the fly isn't done up And please nobody hate me, but I've found that my nearby Supre warehouse can do long stretchy tops in lycra + heaps of different colours for next to no $$. NOT that I would shop there for 'fashion' items (I swear - anyway I'm over 15 so past their target market), but now that bubby's on the way we have to get serious about saving for a house, so can't really splurge on maternity gear. But I did buy a pair of Sass + Bide jeans (forget which style - has lots of detailing around the pockets) in a much bigger size, and I'll just wear them with a belt. In Perth I've found most maternity shops stock for mothers who might be a bit older & who possibly have the money to buy one style-less top (that you could find in easily Target) for $95. (Not that there's anything wrong with older pregnant women!!). IMO You're better off shopping in normal shops & just buying much bigger sizes. Answer: I bought long singlets with waistbands from Supre, jeans and tops from Dotti, and exercise wear from Lorna Jane. The Lorna Jane stuffs i still fit now as it stretched with me, so it was worth the money, however i didn't plan on being pregnant again so refused to pay too much for clothes during my pregnancy. I just threw them away after my daughter was born... Answer: Congratulations to everyone. sloane ranger, deperate times call for desperate measures and if that means shopping at Supre, then so be it. Each time I look at the price tag of 'nice' maternity clothes, I have a pang of guilt about what I won't be able to buy for the baby if I indulge in that pretty skirt, or that pretty dress that i'll wear for 3 or 4 months. Answer: i'm not pregnant (yet! poo) but i work in djs, as we know.... and worked in sleepwear today... they have the cutest loveable/elle macpherson/bonds pants and tops (all separates) for sale. soooooo cute! make me pregnant vogettes. hahahaha. Answer: i point-blank refuse to buy any "maternity wear" from those maternity shops. for starters, i wouldn't be caught dead in 3/4 of the stuff if i wasn't pregnant, so why pay a ridiculous price for an ugly top i would never in my right mind wear if i had the choice!! it certainly has been putting a nice spin on shopping these days, anyway -- when i head to a rack now, the steps have become : 1. grab the waistline and tug outwards assessing maximum stretch capabilities 2. hold item up to body and assess length, smoothing over bump of course 3. check fibre component and softness 4. troop off to changeroom and repeat 1 in front of mirror, then suck in tummy and hunch over to imagine what it will be like post baby update: my belly button is about to pop and i have officially given up on jeans!!
