Formal 2007 - Page 7

I went to the entrance of the year 12 formal last year (to see my friends off) and noticed most people opted for full length dresses. I probably won't find many occasions to wear this again to, but full length dresses make me feel super glamorous and hides the legs

Answer:
i wore a just below knee dress for my yr12 formal four years ago and i finally get to wear it again to a fancy dress party in a couple of months! YAY! although to be honest i didn't buy it with the intention to wear it again, i didn't think i ever would

Answer:
My formals in june and i've got my dress already - its a classic 50's black and white dress kinda audrey-hepburnish - and im wondering if i should make it more modern and funky with modern accessories i.e. hot shoes with a chunky stacked heel etc or keep it simple and elegant with shoes like the classic manolo maryjanes ..any opinions?

Answer:
Well I went to rundle mall (Adelaide) a few days ago and went into all the obvious stores, Myer & David Jones and found nothing. Any Adelaidens have any suggestions of any good formal/dress shops. I'm thinking of checking out Unley tomorrow.
ETA: I searched the forum & found a useful thread, though if anyone has any places they would love to reccomend, I'l love to know.

Answer:
I was going to say Unley Road and King Willia Road, but you're going there tomorrow anyway. Hmmm...how about Rundle Street? Or down the bay there's this shop, think it's called Sassii, with pretty dresses. Or if you want something kinda different, there's Central Market Dress Ups, opposite the Central Market carpark. HTH.

Answer:
Wow some of your dresses are gorgeous!
My formal was 2 years ago (whoa doesn't seem that long). Most of the girls in my year wore full length dresses, but a few wore dresses that finished just below the knee and they looked great too.
This is my dress
and the beaded detail
Though I loved it at the time, now I'm kinda regretting getting a full-length dress, especially one thats so bright and detailed because I'll never have a chance to wear it again!

Answer:
Sigh.. Went looking on Sunday and found absolutely nothing that caught my eye.
Went to Myer and David Jones, but didn't really properly look around David Jones (too disheartened by the fact that I couldn't find the vintage store I wanted to go to AND Holly Golightly had moved without me realising!)
Going in tomorrow with a friend, but not really keen for it.. Trying to talk my mum into taking the day off on Monday to go around to all the vintage stores with me
Meanwhile, all your dresses are gorgeous girls. Absolutely adore yours mchloe. I'm personally looking for knee-length dress or just below, just because I think it's more practical, I won't need to worry about it so much, and if I happen to get extra nice shoes I'll want to show them off!

Answer:
well i have my year 11 social this year. i want a nice dress but that would involve lots of money! i was thinking of getting one from ebay cause i wore a great DVF dress to my year 10 formal.
but i'm still thinking to go cocktail or more formal-ish because it is a year 11 SOCIAL, so its not that crazy formal.
t-bags is good but maybe for year 12
chloe always has nice stuff (especially the blue one that gemma ward wore and that green one that daria-looking one was wearing)
sass bide - the cocktail dresses from their current summer collection but a tad expensive
there's this nice "chick by nicky hilton" dress as well
too many to choose from and i dont have long to go!
